    Isnt it Funny.....

…..how teams like the Patriots counter the 3-4 defense by spreading them out? By making the blitzer have to come from a greater distance, being able to see more clearly where that blitz may be coming from, and neutralizing the zone behind that blitz? Yet when the Steelers go up against a 3-4 (like they did last night versus the Patriots), they insist on a traditional pro style set or a bunch formation that goes directly into the strength of that 3-4??

It's equally hilarious how we use jumbo packages and bunch formations to crowd the LOS with an OL that can't block them.

The Steelers spread defenses. They ran a variety of formations vs the Pats. Have to keep in mind that when defenses are spread out, the ball needs to come out quickly and accurately. Brady did a good job of showing how it's done by executing.

When the Steelers spread defenses you have the "expert" fans complaining that there isn't a Fullback on the field like the great Dan Kreider. How many times did you see the Pats use a FB last night? FBs are going the way of dinosaurs.

Ovi- I think we all want a full back when it is appropriate, and a spread set when that is appropriate.

For instance, how about using a real full back lined up in front of Mendenhall on short yardage and goal line??? is that to friking difficult???

In respect to the Patriots not using a FB... well they don't need to. Brady will actually throw a quick slant, or short timing route to move the ball.

That threat keeps teams honest, and lets justin beiber do a 3 yard QB sneak.
