Imagine a kid from some small town in Kansas who has a chance to play in the NFL and he gets drafted to play in England...he wouldn't just have to move out of state.. but country. that is F*CKING ridiculous.

In fairness, Rog is attempting to do what the owners want. It appears they feel he is doing a good job.

I agree with the league attempting to decrease the risk of head and neck injuries. I don't agree with the attempted extension of the season or expansion over seas. I think the extension and expansion will be bad for the fans and game. Appears that greed is the driving force behind those attempted moves.

I suppose the way the league sees it, they will never get 100% of fans on board with all changes. As long as fans continue to show interests and support the game, nothing will change the way the league moves forward.

He's not consistent. if you're gonna claim to eliminate head shots for player safety, don't argue for making them play more games. kinda stupid logic if you think about it.
and making teams fly across the ocean is ridiculous.

This is not just about one person ruining the league. The owners call the shots. The owners want more money. If Rog does not attempt to give them more money, they will find someone else who will. The owners want to decrease the risk of head and neck injuries. Outside of QB's, I don't think the owners care about player safety. Congress pressed the league, so now they have to care. The league is very late when dealing with the issues of head and neck injuries. There other big issue that the owners are pressing is the collective bargaining agreement. Rog is in a limited win situation right now.

so you feel that collectively the owners of the teams in the NFL have said "fine these guys for playing football" or "Suspend this guy according to a policy that is ambiguous"... no, they put him in charge and let him have a lot more control then they should have. sure owners have a say, but they have less control then you give them credit for.

Or put a team in Puerto Rico now that it's ours. It's close and can bring the whole Latin fan base with it.
i love the idea of a team in puerto rico but you cant play football in september or even early october there. its the rain season and its miserable. canada isnt a bad idea i know there are a lot of bills fans in canada and the cfl has been around for ever so it seems to be some what popular there. i dont think LA should ever have another nfl team since they couldnt keep either the rams or raiders. i would think san antonio would be a good idea. if three nba teams can thrive in houston dallas and san antonio no reason why texas can't have three nfl teams. i do hate texas though.

Tax issues cause problems for teams in Canada.

As for L.A., you should look into the reasons why they couldn't "keep" the Rams or the Raiders. When Georgia Frontiere (sp?) bought the Rams she had intentions of moving them to St. Louis (her hometown) all along. The Rams regularly put 70k + in the seats every week. Georgia moved them to Anaheim knowing full well that traffic would make it too difficult for Rams fans to get to the games and back in a timely manner. Attendance dropped, she pleaded her case, the NFL allowed her to move to St. Louis. She loves it when a plan comes together.

Davis came to L.A. as leverage to get a new stadium in Oakland. Period.

The reason there will be no team in L.A. is because the NFL uses it as leverage to get new stadiums in existing cities. "Build a new stadium or your team will move to L.A." Woooooooo...scaaaaaarrrrrrryyyyyy!

As long as the NFL is the #1 product Goodell isn't going anywhere.

Re: Goodell to lose his job...what does it take?

I'm sure there must be someone here who routinely travels to Europe and can speak to the toll it takes but I went to Dublin and London this summer and it's a couple of days before you feel "right" b/c of the time change. Imagine doing it off and on for an entire season. That's brutal. And a 7 hour flight after a game sounds just about as bad as it gets.

And the conversion rate would become an issue. London is the most expensive city in the world now. Cost of living is insane. $1 Dollar only equals .62 pounds. That becomes a huge deal when you're trying to negotiate contracts. And players would have to pay tax. If you work in the UK (and the NFL would count) then you must pay income tax.

A full time London team is a horrendous idea.
