The Steelers are the NFL's top villain

The Steelers are the NFL's top villain.

by prophicide on Oct 18, 2010

Here are five reasons the Steelers are Darth Vader in 2010.

    1. The Steelers will top many a power rankings list this week. Discussion at Dawgs by Nature often refers to the Steelers as "the bully." Every team in the league looks at the Steelers matchup as a likely loss. Fear leads to hate.

    2. The Steelers have had unparalleled success, and are making a run for a ridiculous 7th title. No other team has enjoyed such success. Fans of less prestigious teams feel that it should be their team's chance at a ring, instead of adding excessive hardware to one team.

    3. Ben Roethlisberger is widely regarded as a rapist or sexual assaulter. Not a popular group of people. Our team's recent success and hopes for the near future rest on his arm. A team needs a franchise quarterback to pick apart postseason defenses, and Big Ben is instrumental to a 2010 Super Bowl win.

    4. James Harrison's hits on Sunday struck a sore note with NFL fans. I bounced around the internet today and the non-Steelers consensus seems to be that he deserves suspension for intentional headhunting. Harrison is also the pride of this generation of the Steel Curtain, setting the tone with his violent and supremely effective play against run and pass.

    5. Steelers Nation is huge, has pockets across the country, and we are the happiest fans in the country every Sunday morning because no team scares us. They wish they were happy. Their teams lose to crappy teams.

Steelers fans, we're going to accept that inasmuch as the NFL has a bad guy, the Steelers have supplanted the Patriots as the number one villain. I don't like it, because to me the Steelers are heroes. I wish I had advice for dealing with this feeling, whether it is better to embrace the dark side or ignore the haters. Instead I'll open it up to comments.

Im surprised they didnt fine Mike Tomlin for his 'unfineable' comment. But with that comment, he truly solidified his troops behind him.

Although I think the role is undeserved, as a Steeler fan, I guess I have to accept it. It's hard to think more people would hate us than the *Patriots, since it's a world of difference to me. As we earn our hardware and they cheat for it. I still think until Brady wins another one without any tainted issues, he's still very overrated. As well as his team. But that is another topic......

As a lifelong Pittsburgh Steeler Fan: I will happily embrace the hate. And speaking of Hate, let's hope Jimmy Hate goes out and takes out some frustrations on people this weekend.

This should be a rallying cry for the Steelers, it's time to get p1issed and start destroying people. We have the personnel for it.

Which is why we should always wear the black hats. Get rid of those stupid yellow ones already because bad guys don't wear yellow hats!

Guys who walk around with monkeys do though.

I actually think that was a very savvy move on Tomlins part. He said what he said prior to the league even looking at it. He made another statement after they looked at it but before there was a ruling. If he had said the same thing afterwards he might have been in some trouble.

I hope the whole country turns against us. This team plays best when its them against the world and they feel slighted.

The only problem is that the Steeler Nation IS THE COUNTRY. We are everywhere and the anti-Steeler sentiment is a construct of the sports media.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

Some will probably take this the wrong way...

I am not suggesting that I want any Dolphin to be injured, but I would love it if Lebeau's defense came out and unleashed Hell on Earth in an act of defiance to Dictator Goodell.

To a man I would love to see them intimidate the offense so that by halftime the Dolphins surrender...

You want to suspend us for devastating hits...you are going to have to suspend all 11 starters and some subs...

That would be amazing to see...

In the end...that would make the Steelers the villain to all those haters...
