Johnson, Harrison, Nugent named AFC players of the week
Posted by Michael David Smith on September 22, 2010 1:21 PM ET
Texans receiver Andre Johnson, Steelers linebacker James Harrison and Bengals kicker Mike Nugent have been named the AFC players of the week.

Johnson had 12 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown in leading the Texans to a 30-27 win over the Redskins. This is his second career player of the week award; he previously won it in Week Four of 2006.

Harrison had 11 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in the Steelers' 19-11 win over the Titans. It's Harrison's fourth player of the week award; he last won it in Week Five last year.

Nugent kicked field goals of 36, 30, 46, 38 and 25 yards and scored all of the Bengals' points in a 15-10 win over the Ravens. It's his first player of the week award.

This totally slipped past me in the day's earlier news. Outstanding. I see many more to come for our defense.

And can we start a Troy for MVP campaign yet? Or is too early. Pivotal plays in two games now...he's all over the place.

Especially in the opposing's Os backfield in goal line situations.

The NFL is sending mixed messages. They named Harrison DPOW, but they also fined him $5,000 for body-slamming Titan's QB.

nice to see james (and the whole steelers D) prove that they could indeed rush the QB and and show what the true problem was last year

Lets face it, there is a dichotomy of violence in the NFL. It is Goodells greatest failing.

BTW, James Harrison deserved this award, even over Timmons.

Was the fine over that triple-sack with Smith and Kiesel?

this happens too often imo. harrison is amazing. he is the best OLB i have seen in a steeler uniform i think. LLoyd and Greene were unbelievable but harrison makes more splash plays. if he was ready to play in the nfl out of kent state i think he would break the all time record for forced fumbles.
