WRs (6): Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Antwaan Randle El, Arnaz Battle, Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders. The play of rookie receivers Brown and Sanders has been one of the bright spots on the summer. Battle is an excellent special teams player and this team has to keep six receivers around because Ward looks to be slipping some.

Cut him!

I believe that Ben won't count against the 53 man total until he returns in October. One more guy could be kept for at least the first month of the season, and you'd have to make a decision about which one guy to cut when Ben makes his return.

I think both Urbik and Hills make the Final 53 at the expense of Legursky. I'm beginning to wonder if Adams is a lock or not.

No way do I keep Johnson over McHugh. Johnson offers nothing as a TE capable of receiving the ball which is what your #3 needs to be able to do in the event of an injury to Spaeth or Miller. I think we need major production this season out of our TE position for the following reasons:

1. During the first 4 games if Lefty is QB he will be looking to get rid of the ball fast due to lack of mobility. TE is critical
2. Hines is missing soimething this season and could have a very down season by his normal standards. TE has to pick up the difference because Wallace will still be developing.

Johnson offers nothing in the receiving game.

Looks pretty clean for the most part.

I have a sneaky feeling they keep Urbik one more season. Yeas, I know some don't want him anymore, but just a weird feeling about him and next year's OL. I think there are SEVERAL bums that get shoved out the door after this season. They will be forced to keep multiple extra Ts due to not knowing how the position will shake out. But all will be likely shown the door if we use a high pick on a T next draft. Then they'll want Urbik. I also don't think he can sit on PS anymore, but not sure of the rules exactly anymore.

Summers, I'd be surprised after seeing him whiff BADLY again last game. Can't keep his eyes open when blocking. Not sure if they keep Wright, pick someone else up off waivers since there's always FBs cut late. Or if they use DJohnson/Redman when they really need a FB. If they find a Kreider type guy like we've had in the past where they are REALLY good at blpcking, then they will keep a FB. But its foolish to keep a mediocre FB which is what Summers aspires to be, since right now he's not even mediocre.

Otherwise, I agree with the rest and this is really just nitpicky. Last few slots could go a few ways depending on any slight injuries forcing us to keep guys til healing occurs.

no mention of logan so i assume he is cut? he doesnt play a position except for returner. i love antonio brown so far and think he was the steal that i thought dwyer was going to be. both brown and sanders look great!! logan was a huge upgrade last season returning kicks but he wasnt good returning punts. brown has amazing speed and seems to have good hands. logan must be horrible at RB if he doesnt even get carry's in the preseason.

all of a sudden i am really worried about our depth at RB and all of a sudden i love our depth at WR.

The disadvantage that Urbik has is that he hasn't dressed yet. That would make him eligible for the PS as a 2nd year player.

One guy to keep in mind if they are still on the fence about Summers is McHugh. He has position versatility to play both FB and TE. That's a fact that also works against Johnson. And Coach Tomlin like guys who can work at more than one spot.

Note what I said about Urbik above. I do like him. I just think the situation is working against him.

Note also what I said about McHugh. He brings capability at more than one spot. When you can keep one bench player to cover the action of two players in the NFL, you do it.

My thinking with Adams is that if they can get equal production out of Scott, they might just keep him over Adams and not waste the time they've invested in Hills when he looks like he's finally getting it. Quite frankly, Hills might not be versatile. But, if Max gets hurt, we'd probably be screwed. Hills is his designated insurance policy. Hills has also improved every year he's been here. Do the Steelers just want to flush 3 training camps worth of work down the drain?

I was under the impression that Ben wouldn't count against the final 53 if he was suspended. Maybe he's not if Lolley is including him. If that's the case, it'll be sad to see CB go. I want the Steelers to keep the door open for him to work in the FO or anything he wants to do w/ the org.

I agree with BH on Charlie Batch, I know we're not going to have him on the active roster this year but that man has been a consummate pro and will be a good coach one of these days (I think Deshea Townsend would be too).

We'll see if Legursky makes the final 53, I'm not so sure.

But the "some" that most vociferously don't want him don't matter. Only Kugler, Arians, Tomlin and Colbert matter. Don't see them cutting ties with him this soon especially since he seems to the casual observer to be playing well this preseason.

Yes, they will have to gauge the league to OL. Teams like the Redskins are gutted at OL and could use a young G to build with...even Urbik at this point.
I bet they take whichever OL we let go. That's how bad a situation they are in.

Losing Butler would stink and PS is risky.

We have alot more difficulty this season than most. We have alot of youth that have solid potential that may steal a spot from someone who could contribute more.
Logan can't possibly survive this camp, but last year seemed to favor him.
They have about 4 guys that 'could' return if need be. He's a luxury where protecting a young talent may be more valuable.

I think Logan, Summers and an OL fall victim to their own mediocrity.

Also, since McHugh wasn't mentioned, I thought he might be gone.
But I don't think that battle is settled yet. I like DJohnson a bit. And he I thought has also played some FB? Maybe I'm switching guys here as lunch is upon me and I'm getting foggy.

I liked McHugh a few years ago, but Johnson is a younger, cheaper option.

OL (9): Max Starks, Chris Kemoeatu, Trai Essex, Flozell Adams, Maurkice Pouncey, Doug Legursky, Jonathan Scott, Ramon Foster, Tony Hills.
I like these picks. I've read nothing positive about Urbik, and think he is destined for the PS, at best. Hartwig is a tough cut, but as long as Pouncey proves himself ready, there is no need for Hartwig (or his salary) on the roster.

Defensive line (7): Aaron Smith, Casey Hampton, Brett Keisel, Chris Hoke, Ziggy Hood, Nick Eason, Doug Worthington. Tough cut. Eason, though never outstanding, is always dependable. I liked the upside of Sunny Harris, and Ziggy's development allows for the Steelers to gamble a bit with younger backups. I'd keep at least one of Harris/Worthington, and 2/3 from Harris, Worthington and Eason.

LB (9): James Harrison, James Farrior, Lawrence Timmons, LaMarr Woodley, Jason Worilds, Thaddeus Gibson, Larry Foote, Stevenson Sylvester, Keyaron Fox.
I know some in the media have speculated about Gibson, but I think he's all but a lock. Bailey was a fine ST guy, but it isn't like the unit was great with him. I'd keep Gibson, and I like Sylvester. I think he can be an immediate contributor on ST, with a potential future as perhaps a nickel LB.

DBs (9): Ike Taylor, Troy Polamalu, Ryan Clark, Bryant McFadden, Keenan Lewis, Joe Burnett, Will Allen, Ryan Mundy, William Gay.
I'd add Crezdon Butler to this group as the roster replacement for Ben. I'd also keep him and get rid of Mundy, as long as somebody (perhaps even Butler) shows they can play safety in the dime. Tempting to keep either Madison or Logan over Mundy to start the season. I think Battle makes Madison expendable, and given that he is capable of contributing as a WR, and that he got a decent signing bonus in the offseason, I think Battle makes it. Very tempting for me to take Logan over Mundy, but I'm not sure that it would work out in terms of the active game day roster.

Specialists (3): Jeff Reed, Daniel Sepulveda, Greg Warren. No explanation needed.
Does Stewart singing indicate concern with Warren?

mchugh over johnson. you notice when mchugh is in the game for DJ.. he's a violent blocker

summers cant make the final roster, terrible whiffer, er i mean blocker and the kid wright look like a better runner then him

butler hopefully makes the team. 3rd year we've seen mundy do nothing. also like cromartie smith who goes to PS

i'm in the minority, but i'd keep logan unless i see brown clearly outperform him on returns. lets face it, brown isn't seeing much time at wideout this year either, therefore keep the better returner. Brown to PS

I would keep McHugh over Johnson too.

Make Summers expendable.

I still would keep Dwyer as I don't think he would make it to the PS and I haven't given up hope on him yet.

i dont think dwyer has shown anything in camp to get claimed.

unless they wanted him in the draft after passing him up 5-6 times
