    McFadden

I thought he looked bad last night. He was playing WR on the long pass and he was also beat to the outside on the TD. I hope he improves his play on the ball.

Steve Smith made one hell of a play on the ball. McFadden couldn't have covered that route any better outside of picking it off. It was a circus catch on Smith's part. I can't speak on the TD. My gf's directv was acting crazy because of the weather and I think that part was glitched.

The annoying thing on the long pass was that he had the coverage but he made the mistake of solely trying to position himself to try to catch the ball instead of establishing his position in between the receiver and the ball. If he let the ball come over his outside shoulder instead the play would have been dead and over.

Take home message Steve Smith made a terrific catch. I wouldn't read too much into it.

          Re: McFadden

I am more bothered with the TD. Maybe containment or discipline was not on him but he took a lousy angle or at least it looked that way on TV.

Having said that I think he plays in Diick's system well by keeping everything in front of him and usually making solid open field tackles.

I watched him in some games for Arizona where at 1st it looked like the right decision was made to let him go. The scheme did not play to his strengths so he was always looking exposed.

Have to give him a pass on the playoff game against Green Bay where he played injured.

I was taughtto attackthe ball at the highest point on defense. It wasn't a circus catch it was a case of McFadden trying to play WR instead of DB.

I agree, it was a good catch by Smith. Mcfadden was caught out of position on a TD run around the edge. Maybe he did not account for the RB's speed? Hopefully, it is something that he can work on with the coaches when they game plan for teams.

It was a difficult play for Mcfadden to make. Things were moving so quickly. If he had tried to play the ball, I believe PI would had been called.

McFadden had man coverage on the slot, the slot started what looked like a slant and then blocked. Harrison had contain and got beat, it wasn't Mcfadden's responsibility. On the pass he was in position to make the pick and just missed it.

i thought the spot on the play before was wrong.

the ginat receiver was coming back for the ball and when he was contacted, he didn't have the 1st down.

that running play should have never happened

                      Re: McFadden

Had Mcfadden intercepted he would be a hero. He did in my opinion the right thing, he tried for the pick and he was in good position and infact, he did all that very quickly but, the receiver made a nice lucky catch. Maybe it wasn't luck but, that pass could have easily went though his hands for a McFadden pick. Last year everyone was bitching we didn't get but a couple interceotions and now when a guy goes for one, he's not any good.

Going for a pick is fine but I would prefer McFadden go for the pick with his hands in front of the WR's in the future. Hoping the ball goes through the WR's hands and into McFaddens is bad D.

Exactly. Harrison got pushed out and owned by the TE. It was his job to contain the play.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

If you watch the play again you'll see Harrison had contain but didn't see the run coming his way. He actually goes straight at the TE Boss a second time instead of going upfield and forcing the runner inside.

That was really weird. Never seen him do that before.

he didnt have a great game but at least he didnt punch anyone like ike. i also saw mcfadden jam a wr at the line and broke up a pass. im not worried about mcfadden. not as much as i worried about gay last season.
