...that you want the players to step up, and improve each week...

If the players are expected to make plays, it's your responsibility to get them
    the right plays.

RUTFM is NOT the RIGHT PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    STEP YOUR FRIGGIN GAME UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not all on the players!!!!!!!!!!!!

Show me some creativity!!! Show me some X's and O's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, JD you might not have heard but it is PRESEASON. Its purpose is to evaluate players and a warm up. It is NOT the time to reveal new strategy.

All Tomlin needs to worry about is who does Pouncey replace, whether Logan make the team, ect.
If they are going to have ARE throw like he used to, or have a special goal line package for Dixon, the last thing they need to do is run those plays now.

I dont want a receiver to "look" good because twice a brilliant strategy tricked a secondary player to play the run and the receiver is WIDE OPEN. I want to see him have to beat coverage to get open.

I want to see who can make a play, when the defense is not fooled.

I wanna see what RB can gain yardage on first and ten not on a surprise draw play. I dont want a whole lot of play action passes. Let me see passing on 3rd and long against the nickel and a blitz.

Time to evaluate coaches strategy is when the games count.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Maybe you haven't heard, Tomlin has been instructed to run the ball more. The playbook is getting scaled back. Baby Rooney has decided that the answer to the Steeler problems is running the ball more. So you are going to see more rushing attempts when the regular season starts no matter what.
The Steelers’ went through seven consecutive drafts (2003-09) without taking an offensive lineman in the first two rounds, the longest such streak by any franchise this century.

Who said they are going to run the ball more??? Rooneys wanted to run the ball more effectively but that does not mean they want more rushing carries. I definitely don't want to see more rushing carries. Steelers strength is QB/WR/TE and Bruce Arians better use them. If Steelers can run the ball on 3 and short situations and red zone it will improve the offense tremendously.

            ^^

Not run the ball more, but better, as I recall. From what I remember about baby Rooney's comments, as long as we make all our 3rd and two's, and all our 2nd and goal from the 3s, I don't think he'd care if we NEVER run the ball.

JD - your point is well taken. When the regular season starts, if the coaching isn't up to snuff, Tomlin is responsible - as responsible as Mendenhall would be if he kept fumbling the ball, IMO.

You all are right in that it's the preseason way of doing things.

Had this post been in the 5th week of the regular season I would be echoing it. Let's hope we don't have to.

Gotta agree. Unlike the foolishness spewed by many here, "Kid" creates insightful posts that really make you think (like where is his comment, is it somewhere in the original post, does he even know how to "reply" in this forum ect.)
