Observations from a guy with a clicker

I'm pretty good with the clicker, so I guess that makes me about as much of an expert as anybody, anyways........

- As I mentioned in a thread I started, I liked the play of Tony Hills.

- Tank Summers really did get a nice long look at FB. We went FB pretty much all game.

- Pouncey came in first at C before moving over (actually trading places with Legursky) and playing RG. Does this mean that the current plan is to prep him to play C this year?

- If the OL continues to look as bad as they did in this game then we might need to start Dixon for four games in order to neutralize the pass rush.

- Wow Redman really got a long look. Was this because they think he is ready to become the #2 or because they have little faith in Dwyer and need Redman to step up?

- A couple of nice plays by Sunny Harris on back to back plays. First he broke in and was held to force the Lions into first and 30. Then on the next play he broke into the backfield and stuffed the run. Not much else that I saw from him though.

- I was excited to see Ziggy but can't remember seeing him do anything.

- Loved the play by Worthington where he was coming in towards the QB but a screen was lobbed over his head. He then turned and hustled and dove to take the back down after about a 6-7 yard gain. Still a positive play for the Lions but loved that hustle from a big lineman.

These were just a few things that I hadn't already seen posted here. Obviously I could say something like "Wow, that Antonio Brown is fast" but it's been covered. These were just a few small things I noticed.

If he's fully healthy, he will be the backup T on both sides. He's starting to show some of what made him a top prospect in his draft year and it looks obvious that he paid attention in skull sessions in the off-season.

- Tank Summers really did get a nice long look at FB. We went FB pretty much all game.

If we're going to have an effective running attack and employ the RBs in the pass game as receiving options and not merely blockers then we will need Summers to pretty much be a Timmy Lester clone. It will improve Mendy's effectiveness.

I think they drafted him with the idea of him being the heir apparent at C. But when you only dress 9 OL a game, versatility is a key. Would like to see him get some reps at R and LG.

Our pass protection is still crappy. DDix needs to develop some hot reads and dump off to an open man when flushed. Lefty will get killed if he doesn't move better in the pocket with his OL the way it is.

He's had an entire off-season to get the playbook into his cranium, which is something Dwyer is still learning. I think Dwyer eventually makes MM expendable. Until then, he's beginning to look like a PS designee.

Our pass rush is already in mid-season form and that is a good thing. Here's hoping that the young bucks we've drafted in the past couple years can step in and give our older guys a break from time to time this season

The TV feed was talking to Keisel and he remarked at how much Ziggy had developed in the off-season. So, I wouldn't be too concerned with the type of PT he was getting last night.

Worthington is a Smitty clone. I loved watching him play at tOSU and it was for exactly for the reason of his athleticism. I know lots of people who like these road grader types for the interior line. But you have to have rushers who can move effectively to the ball, especially in the 3-4. I'm pretty sure that Aaron Smith and his advancing age were in mind when DW was drafted.
