Butler looked decent too but he was playing against guys who won't be in the NFL in 3 weeks.
After all the positive ink he's been getting in camp, I hope that we get to see Butler play a little bit against some better competition in the upcoming preseason games.

I thought both Lewis and Burnett showed some positive flashes, and I'm certainly not going to fault Lewis for getting beat by Calvin Johnson, especially considering that he defended an earlier pass to Johnson quite nicely.
I agree. But don't we know how to double cover someone like Johnson. On the two plays against Lewis and the one against Burnett they were in single coverage against Johnson. Give Johnson three chances and pretty certain he will catch at least one. Doesn't seem like a smart defensive call against one of the best WR in the NFL. maybe now we know what happened last season
I'm really not too worried about the game planning, or lack thereof, during the preseason. I doubt the Steelers are either. Perhaps it was intentional - let those guys get into a nearly impossible situation and see what they can do.
they always play a vanilla defense in the preseason

      Fixed that for you.

I didn't get to see much of the game, but saw this on Lewis just today that was nice to read, pretty much what everyone already mentioned, but hey...its ink:

Steelers second-year CB Keenan Lewis has impressed in training camp. Lewis, who appeared in just four games as a rookie, came off the bench in Pittsburgh's preseason opener vs. Detroit, notching three tackles. The 6-foot, 208-pound Lewis broke up a potential TD pass to star Lions WR Calvin Johnson late in the first quarter. However, Johnson — listed at five inches taller and nearly 30 pounds heavier than Lewis — finished the drive with a two-yard TD catch on a stop-fade route against Lewis, who was isolated in coverage and had no defense against a pass thrown to Johnson's back shoulder.

I think it is very rare for the steelers to double cover someone. We normally match Ike up with the best the other teams have and play the zone while coming with the heat. Am I wrong in thinking this?
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

        but Go Steelers!!!

Given that I only have access to the televised view, and that I don't dvr any of the games- i can not say this with 100% certainty, but:

I'm pretty sure the Steelers have someone doubled on almost every pass play.

He had some nice plays including breaking up a pass in the end zone that could have been either a TD or INT.
Yeah, that was a really nice play. He reminded me of Chad Scott on that play. Yeah, go ahead laugh but early Chad Scott made a lot of great plays for the Steelers and helped win many games.

I think both Lewis and Burnett have shown ability and 'could' down the line start opposite of each other.
They could also falter and Burnett could end up maxing out as a nickle corner and Lewis could move to S.
But for now I like the progress.

Any reports on Lewis and his concussion from last nights game?

I think it's been a number of years since Charles Johnson caught a TD pass. That was Calvin Johnson who pushed off on Lewis and caught the TD. He made Drew Pearson proud with that play.
While it was a push off it is something that the elite receivers will get away with every time.
