Not much talk on the boards about him, but he deserves some ink.

The guy seems like the real deal. Loved what I saw speed wise, ball awareness, not losing the tackles, etc.

Lewis certainly saw plenty of action in the first game. He had his share of ups and downs, but he was often matched up with possibly the third best receiver in the league so you would expect the kid to have it tough.

He had some nice plays including breaking up a pass in the end zone that could have been either a TD or INT.

I think his guy scored that early TD too. But it was difficult to stop. He looked pretty good overall.

Not sure I go that far, but I liked what I saw in his awareness and fluidity.

I think his guy scored that early TD too. But it was difficult to stop. He looked pretty good overall.

The receiver got away with a push-off on that play. The ref missed it, as he was deep in the endzone behind the receiver and along the sideline and so was shielded from seeing it.

Most def! He plays the ball IMO. Thats the way to play corner. You have to know where the ball is or where its going to be. Its a combination of athleticism and instinct. Rod Woodson had both!

"speed-wise"? Lewis is not real fast. He played most of the night with a ten yard cushion. I wouldn't say he looked fast out there. But, that isn't his game. He played pretty well positionally and looked strong and scrappy. I thought it was a great first step.

His game actually reminds me of McFadden. He is big and physical. He will contest balls and make tackles. But, you are not going to put him on a speed burner WR and expect him not to get used. He appears to be a guy who can shut down good WRs without blazing speed.

Ever since last year there is just something about him that feel like a safety to me. If they switched him it would just feel right.

I think it's been a number of years since Charles Johnson caught a TD pass. That was Calvin Johnson who pushed off on Lewis and caught the TD. He made Drew Pearson proud with that play.

Both Lewis and Burnett had decent games. Not perfect but got to like the depth we are developing at CB. Lewis looks like he could be an eventual starter. As I have said for over a year Burnett could be the perfect nickle guy (remember Gay is in the last year of his contract).

Butler looked decent too but he was playing against guys who won't be in the NFL in 3 weeks.

After all the positive ink he's been getting in camp, I hope that we get to see Butler play a little bit against some better competition in the upcoming preseason games.

I agree. But don't we know how to double cover someone like Johnson. On the two plays against Lewis and the one against Burnett they were in single coverage against Johnson. Give Johnson three chances and pretty certain he will catch at least one. Doesn't seem like a smart defensive call against one of the best WR in the NFL. maybe now we know what happened last season

I'm really not too worried about the game planning, or lack thereof, during the preseason. I doubt the Steelers are either. Perhaps it was intentional - let those guys get into a nearly impossible situation and see what they can do.
