Planet Steelers Fantasy Football League - Draft Question

Do you guys want to move the draft back to later in the preseason when injuries and depth charts may be more settled?

I just arbitrarily picked August 11 at first for the sake of creating the league. Please offer suggestions for when you want the draft to be an we will try to get a general consensus figured out.

I'll put my initial recoomendation at Saturday Aug. 21 or Sunday the 22nd. Sometime in the mid-afternoon for either of those days. Maybe around 4pm.

Seeing as how whatever time you choose to suit the majority will likely not suit Chadman- whatever time & date will be fine.

    Kick your butts regardless....
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

    Light up the darkness.

That weekend should work. The previous weekend would not work because I will be taking my son to Pittsburgh for our first preseason game against the Lions.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

That Sunday night would work perfect for your slant-eyed brethren. I work this Aug. 11 and have tried relentlessly to switch with somebody, but with little luck. I'll put in a friendly suggestion of Aug. 15th Sunday night, please.

A bit more time would be welcome here too, I haven't even looked at a depth chart yet this season lol

I like the 4pm ish idea - I might just be out of bed by then! Bring snacks and drinks boys, gonna be a longgggggggg draft with 14 teams and individual def. players.

D Rock suggested Saturday Aug. 21 or Sunday the 22nd, not the previous weekened. That weekend is better for me as opposed to the weekend of the 14th-15th, since my son and I will be spending that weekend in Pittsburgh for the first preseason game.

I actually asked for that day off from work (work 24 hour shifts) so that I could attend the draft. Later in my work month is rough. I would personally rather keep it how we have it. My other draft is early as well. Not really a big deal in my eyes.

Looking at my schedule the 21st I might be able to work around. I can't do the 22nd.

Re: Planet Steelers Fantasy Football League - Draft Question

I think the only problem with the 21st is that there is a 7pm game that night. It would have to be an earlier draft, and then if people plan on going somewhere for the game it could get to be tight squeeze.

I'd recommend everyone make sure they have their yahoo autodraft order set the way they want it just in case. Especially if the draft does take awhile, some folks may not want to stay for all the rounds.

Sorry to hear you moved your schedule around for the draft as it was set Shawn. I meant to make this thread a bit earlier but forgot about it until I realized the draft was right around the corner. Hopefully we can find something that works for everyone.

I have another Live draft going on the 21st, but will try to do both if they coincide somehow. At worst I'll pre-rank my players and hope for the best.

Re: Planet Steelers Fantasy Football League - Draft Question

I'm pre-ranking now...normally I just pre-rank each position, coming up with a tiered list of QB's in order, list of RB's, list of WR's, list of TE's, etc. and then when it is my pick, I decide which position to select based on the best available player left at each. I never do a master list with all positions ranked among each other, because, for instance, the position that I take in the 3rd round will be impacted by what positions I have already select in rounds 1 and 2. I'm hoping that if I cannot make the draft and computer needs to autopick based on my rankings, that it doesn't come out to 8 WR's and 1 RB or something stupid like that.

I already know where I like Peyton Manning when I compare him to Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Tony Romo, etc., but it is odd for me to have to decide beforehand where Peyton ranks when I compare him to the likes of Calvin Johnson or DeAngelo Williams, for instance. And I still have no idea where I am going with the IDP guys since I have never done that before (and the Yahoo default ranks for these individual players is seemingly random...thanks a lot, fellas).

Is it possible just to keep it where it is? Seems that we all signed up knowing the date and would have the same handicap by drafting early.

I'm fine if we keep it where it is on the 11th, only 3 days from now. I'm also fine if we move it to the 22nd as has been suggested by a few folks so far. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to do it where the draft itself could be taking place at the same time as an actual Steeler preseason game, though, since most of us try to do whatever we can to watch those games, even if it has to be via a crappy justintv stream. Just let me know when, and I'll be there with bells on...ready to kick butt and take names.

Alright here's how we will do it... We have two potential times, and whichever one gets more votes by Tuesday morning will be what we go with. If it's a tie, then the commish makes the call.

                              The two options are:

keeping it at Wednesday, August 11, at 8 PM eastern time

moving the draft to Sunday, August 22, at 4 PM eastern time

                              vote away!
