Afternoon practice concludes
Ben Roethlisberger got a warm welcome from the several thousand Steelers fans gathered for Saturday afternoon's practice here at Saint Vincent College.
Roethlisberger admitted to not being sure how he'd be received in his first real exposure to the fans. But everything seemed to go well and he spent an extended period of time signing autographs following the session.
Roethlisberger again split some snaps with Byron Leftwich in the early team portion of the drills. But Leftwich took all the first-team snaps in the final session.
Worilds was put on his back by tight end David Johnson one one backers on tight ends drill. This after being driven into the ground by Heath Miller earlier.
Worilds also had trouble keeping his feet throughout the drills and must work on that aspect of his game.
Tony Hills also tossed him around a couple of times.
In o-line/d-line drills, Ziggy Hood clubbed Pouncey to the ground in a meeting of No. 1 draft picks, prompting head coach Mike Tomlin to exclaim, "What a difference a year makes."
Tomlin had that pairing go against each other two more times after that, with Hood again besting Pouncey before Pouncey came back and held his ground the third time.

Oh No. If Tony Hills can put him on his back then that is a problem. I hope its just a rookie mistake. We need him in the future.

Gonna take him time to transition from a 3 point stance to a 2 point stance.

Time to start those "Worilds is a bust" threads.
Again, some people don't see everything and some only see what they want to see. Different take on Worilds from Ken Laird
In the camp's first 'backs on backers' drill Sunday (pitting on-rushing linebackers against stationary running backs looking to protect a dummy QB) the rookie OLBs looked impressive. Jason Worilds did so well, at one point Tomlin exclaimed, "Does anyone want to block #97?" Thaddeus Gibson also impressed, swimming past Rashard Mendenhall on one rep, then easily passing David Johnson on another. Later, Gibson pulled out slick inside speed moves to fool Mendenhall (again) and Frank Summers. One man did get the better of Gibson: Issac Redman. "Red," as he was called by Tomlin, locked up Thaddeus and dumped him to the ground in a heated exchange. Redman also was one of the few to hold off Worilds.

Wow, that is not just differring opinions. Those are two diametrically opposed views. It just goes to show you that you can't believe everything that is written.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.
but Go Steelers!!!
Hmmm, okay the defense is doing well, but the backs can't pick up the blitz, isn't that a bad thing?

Ike- not to picky here- but...
I don't see how Goodell is a hypocrite??
Mike Logan? Ok.
Goodell? Not as far as I can tell.
Personally, if I saw Goodell... Given the piling on, towards Ben... I might suggest-
Show Me The Tapes. Meaning- where was your conduct policy regarding the Patriots??
But that might be too obtuse- so, I'd probably just go with something straight forward and simple.... like
Hmmm, okay the defense is doing well, but the backs can't pick up the blitz, isn't that a bad thing?

Well the drill is designed to favor the defense so I don't think it is horrible ... but yeh, it would be nice if are backs could pick up the blitz.
Especially since Ben holds onto the ball so long.
Well, there was a report of him escaping a William Gay blitz and hitting Ward for a first down during the two minute drill offense. If he had thrown it away we wouldn't have to worry about blitz pickup.
