High powered O of Atlanta and no real QB to challenge the Falcons 2.5 sounds about right to me. In order for us to win that game our D is going to need to play lights out for 4 quarters.
    Trolls are people too.

I gotta disagree slightly. Atlanta is not nearly as high powered on thick grass, outside, at away stadiums as they are at home. In my opinion they are two different teams. Combine that with the fact their o-line is really not that dominate, and LeBeau should have all of his blitzers fresh for the first game, I see a lot of pressure on Ryan which should further reduce their passing attack. I just don't see them scoring that many points on us.

Of course, I don't see us scoring as many either. But we should produce a few more turnovers. And with our conservative game plan I don't see us committing many give-aways. I would actually put us as 2.5 favorites if Leftwich has the whole camp and 2 pre-season games to get comfortable.

Sweet...we play well as underdogs in general, but as home underdogs???

As JD might say, we'll be FROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTHING AT THE MOUTH LIKE CRAZED UNDERDOGS!!!

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I'm a bit puzzled by these odds. It's not often that we are dogs at home.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

            but Go Steelers!!!

Ike goes pick-6 twice, and we get a return TD, win 31-13.

Gotta go get my meds refilled now, haven't had any for 2 days.

Holy cow! So, if we played in Atlanta, we would be 8.5 point underdogs?

                That's crazy!

                  Two responses made me laugh:

Atlanta is not nearly as high powered on thick grass, outside,
You act as if they are playing on a community park field that hasn't been mowed in 4 months. I'm sure they will be just as prepared to play on grass as turf. Its game 1, Heinz field isn't a mudpit just yet.

                  Ike goes pick-6 twice
You mentioned taking your meds after that, I think you need stronger ones...haha. Stone hands getting 2 INT's in one game = "Double Rainbow"!

Re: We will open the season as home underdogs

The Falcons will spend the next couple of months up in Flowery Branch on grass fields outside. Being as it will still be hot in Pgh on the 12th, playing outside won't be even the tiniest advantage.

And Matt Ryan struggled in a lot of games last year. He's beatable, especially with the Steelers defense. With Troy and Aaron back and the starting linebacker crew, this is absolutely a winnable game for the Black and Gold.

Atlanta is the sexy pick. Giving them 2.5 gets people to bet on them. No big deal. I expect most of the pundits to pick Atlanta on the pre-game shows and web sites leading up to the game.

                      Interesting.

Where is smartmonies when you need him?

For the record, I'll take the Brownstains, Oakland +7, and the Texans possibly to upset Indy.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

                        Wow! Check out this stat.
The Falcons are now favored in their season opener at Pittsburgh at the majority of Nevada and online sportsbooks whose lines are charted by VegasInsider.com. Atlanta is favored by as many as two points. The game is still rated a pick 'em at a couple of sportsbooks, including Pinnacle.

The Steelers have not been home underdogs since hosting Jacksonville in the wild-card round on Jan. 5, 2008. The Steelers lost 31-29 but covered the closing spread, which ranged from 2½-to-3 points as bettors strongly backed the upstart Jaguars, who notched their second win at Pittsburgh in four weeks,

The Steelers haven't been a regular-season home underdog since Nov. 7, 2004, when they defeated then-unbeaten Philadelphia 27-3 as one-point dogs.

This game is winnable by both sides, but I can understand picking the Falcons in this situation. While I want the Steelers to win, I still see ATL taking it.

Would love to be wrong though.
