Ryan Clark on First and Ten

Anyone else catch Ryan Clark on 1st and 10 on ESPN today?

They made him a twitter account - @rclark25 - in case Prok wants to stalk him and get us some questions answered.

    Couple of interesting tidbits:

    1. Mendy dancing naked in the LockerRoom on Weds is the good luck charm for the team. He didn't dance during the 5 game losing streak. So they made him start dancing again.

    2. Says Steelers will go 11-5. And says he expects a SuperBowl.

    3. Got into a disagreement with Skippy over the Steelers D being better than the Ravens D. Said the comparison between Ed Reed and Troy P isn't even close. Says Troy can do everything while Ed only plays centerfield. Also mentioned he though Lebeau would have retired last year if they had success and that Dick is working really hard to make sure they're good this year. Said Dick's the biggest difference between the Steelers and Baltimore D.

    4. Says Tomlin tells them they gotta win 3 out of ever 4 games. So the expectation without Ben is that they go at least 3-1. Says the team will have to focus on being better without Ben and will be just that much better when he comes back. Said the biggest issue for Ben will be coming back with no practice or games and it just takes time to adjust. No idea how the coaches will work Ben back into the lineup.

    5. Thinks the best QBs in the draft will be Jimmy C, Sam B, Colt M, and Tim T in that order. Skip had the list flipped. I agree with Clark exactly.

    6. Said there will be a lockout, but it won't last the whole season. Also doesn't like 18 games. Too much. Says the lockout won't hurt the NFL because it's not the players fault. It's the owners that want the new deal. Says as long as players stay popular with fans, so will the game. Thinks the current split 60/40 is fair.

    7. Says players don't respect other players that take steroids. Said the NFL tests randomly during the offseason and came over to his house at 7 am and had to sit and watch ESPN with him for 2 hours until he could give him a sample. Talked about drug testing in other sports and said he doesn't think the NFL will follow suit with MLB cause too many NFL guys are against needles. Says big bad dudes are afraid of needles. Thinks it's funny.

    8. This show sucks and Skip's douche-tastic, but Skip said Ryan was the smartest guy he's ever had on the show - players and other analysts included. Says Ryan will be an analyst when he's done.

    9. Says Dallas is like the Redskins when he was there. They're the champs of the offseason. They sign great high profile players and they'll have guys with all 99s on Madden, but they won't get to the SuperBowl. He said GB is the favorite to get to the SuperBowl for the NFC. Said Rogers is the best QB in the conference.

    10. Clark is from NO. Not sure why I never realized this. Doesn't want Chris Paul to leave NO. Says the old ladies in church talk about him calling him CP3. That's how ingrained he is to the city.

I'm sure there were some other tidbits, but that's all I remember for now.

Re: Ryan Clark on First and Ten

Saw it when at the gym, so didn't catch everything that was said.

Skip the Tul said the front 7 of Balt is way better than the Steeler front 7 esp with their draft of Kindle and Cody along with Ngata, that Suggcks is much better than Woodley and something like Woodley is overrated or overhyped.

Clark's commentary was very good, polished, interesting, humorous. Stood up for his boys proudly, while presenting good supporting observations.

I saw it this morning when it first ran on the air. Looks like Clark is practicing for when he no longer can play the game. Good for him. Pretty much right no regarding how greedy the league is. Goodell and all his buddies. That guy is going to end up ruining the sport. IMO. (Goodell)

They also had Mendy on there talking about our qb situation, as well as the usual fluff they do on that show.... Here's the link to it....

Interesting watching Mendenhall and Clark interacting you can just see that Mendy is super shy and the fact that they don't get along. I remember when everyone was saying Mendy isn't liked by teammates and he's to shy...blah blah blah...

Mahalo for providing the link, i really enjoyed listening to that interview. Ryan Clark is indeed very articulate and will have a great career as an announcer after his playing days are finished.

i always enjoy clark's interviews. he should be an analyst when he retires. i also thought lebeau was going to retire after last season. we got lucky. i just hope he can go out a champion after this season.

Oh, I get it now...When flippy wrote "Got into a disagreement with Skippy over the Steelers D being better than the Ravens D" I wondered to myself "Why in the hell would Jeff Reed be defending the Ravens D as better than the Steelers D...that makes no sense."

The only excellent player in the Raven front 7 is Haloti Ngata, by the way. Suggs is the overrated and overhyped one (not to mention overpaid)...he hasn't had a double digit sack season since 2004!!! He can't hold Woodley or Harrison's jock. If Haloti Ngata and Ed Reed were out like Aaron Smith and Troy Polamalu were, then Ray Lewis would look like James Farrior did last season.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

you don't have to talk when you dance.

Mendy is probably a quiet guy....

I have no idea why they let us know about this good luck dance. Very disturbing.
