but I believe it was Windy who used to wonder why Tomlin got love from the media while McCarthy was always on the chopping block. We will get to see how the media treats McCarthy now that he is the Steelers HC

Very disappointed with this call. Was looking forward to some change. Rooney wants to keep treading water. -
4 of McCarthys last 7 seasons were worse than ANY Tomlin season. Both firings followed losing seasons. I know the streak gets downplayed but when McCarthy gets fired after going 4-7 with Rodgers in his prime and the next season Tomlins record is better with Mason and Duck? That is why these comparisons to Tomlin are weak. People ripped Tomlin not winning a playoff game again with aging, scared, Rodgers? Look at.MMs last couple seasons with vintage Rodgers.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

I agree, Captain. I would say I am happy Tomlin stepped down, as I thought it was time. With that said, I did think many are being pretty unreasonable with their expectations over the past 8-9 seasons. Tomlin had a franchise QB in Ben that was past his prime--capable of some great moments/great games and glimpses of the early guy, but not a guy to win a string of playoff games. Ben gets hurt, Tomlin leads the combo of Rudolph/Hodges to a non-losing season, how??!!!! Then after Ben, we get a series of never were or has beens at QB, and we expect different results. This team has not had a SB-worthy QB for many years, so getting to the playoffs/winning is a bit of a feat itself. Have some respect--it was his time to go, but Tomlin did okay with what he had to work with. We have been spoiled by this franchises' success--most other teams fans have never hit the highs we've hit. That's reality.👍 1Comment
