Do we ride this out or look for a trade? Dies Watt even want to play for a new HC? Seems like Flores would be the only coach he would want to stick around for but like his fans have said… does he “deserve” to find a team that can win now to finish his career? I think he wants to finish as a Steeler but with Tomlin leaving will those feelings change?
Now Watt?

Should we be talking about him "deserving" anything when he's making upwards of $30 million per year?Originally posted by feltdizzDo we ride this out or look for a trade? I do think Watt "deserves" accommodation if he'd like to leave. But not to the extent that it hurts our team. Sadly, dude has leverage should he chose to use it. Massive dead cap hit if he retires. Same if traded but at least we get something in return. Don't be surprised with a trade to a contender of his choosing who is willing to deal. Watts agent could make clear what his clients options are behind the scenes.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Didn’t Joey Porter force his way out because he didn’t want to play for anyone but Cowher? I could see something similar happening.2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

I believe the rise of James Harrison was part of Joey Porter's departure also. His $ requirements couldn't be met with "Deebo" and Lamar Woodley who was on the rise. ********************************** Let Watt go. We will have to eat some of his money. I don't think anyone out there will pay him his contract. Just like Jeey P' s day we have 3 OLBS who can play as good as Watt right now.Comment

Cap, if we don't like the Watt contract, there is a huge benefit to him retiring. He has guaranteed salary the next two years totalling $64M. Steelers are on the hook for $94M guaranteed if he plays, only $30M hit if he leaves on his own or is traded. That being said, the return for Watt at this point might not be great in a trade like it once would have been, but the greater benefit is knocking $64M off the future cap.Comment
