with so many being interviewed, leads me to believe rooney has no clue what he wants and has no vision.

The fact McCarthy is now on their list is a joke. Not sure if they're seriously considering this clown, but why even bring him for an interview?Comment

i’m sure whoever it is will be the best candidate, steeler type that will hire great coordinators and utilize the players skills to their max..How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?Comment

If they hire McCarthy, to me, it's a strong indicator that they're trying to retain Aaron Rodgers at QB.Originally posted by crushedspiritThe fact McCarthy is now on their list is a joke. Not sure if they're seriously considering this clown, but why even bring him for an interview?Comment

I agree, I can only hope AR2 comes to the same conclusion. Not sure he will, though.Originally posted by SwordGood God just clean-house and move forward …stop with these old time relics…we need to getup to speed with the new NFL or we will be left behind as usual!Comment

If Steeler hired McCarthy , then whatever is right in saying Rooney doesn’t know what he’s doing. And I’d stop following the Steelers. It’s bad enough already with the Patriots finding their franchise QB and going to the Super Bowl in 3 weeks.Comment

I'm thinking Anthony Weaver is the guy. Strong AFC North links (Ravens player/coach & Browns) as well as coming from schemes run by Harbaugh, Ryan etc. He's a hard nosed DL coach, and we have some young DL we invested heavily into. His time at the Ravens & Texans suggest he's got that 'attacking defence' mentality too. Team him up with Mike McCarthy as OC & I think you might have the direction. Weaver played against Ben, Ward, Faneca, Pouncey etc- he knows & understands Steelers football more than most of the candidates. The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

If Steelers are seriously considering McCarthy then I think that goes back to what Rooney was saying in his presser about always being in contention. McCarthy and Tomlin have almost the same record and results as coaches. I would hate this choice but again this would point to the importance for Rooney about being above .500 vs. actually rebuilding in some way and taking a chance, gotta take chances when it comes to building a SB team.👍 1Comment

I've been all-in on Shula since the start, so I'm hoping he's the guy. Whomever it is will possess the leadership qualities Rooney is looking for above all else and will have potential to be in the position for decades. Although I confess to originally wanting a defensive-minded coach, what side of the ball they hail from doesn't really matter. In this hiring cycle, it just so happens there are more candidates who have the qualities being sought who happen to be on the defensive side of the ball. What matters is the ability to lead men and find the right coordinators to run both sides of the ball.sigpic
