We don't know what Rodgers will choose to do about continuing his career, but will the Steelers pivot to address the future, looking to acquire a younger QB who can be a long-term solution at the position? Lots of chatter about Malik Willis. I certainly like what we've seen of him with the Packers, but there's bound to be a bidding war for him this offseason. Would it be wise to gamble say 30M per year to bring Willis onboard? By the spot we draft, I'm not sure there will be any franchise-type QBs remaining. And if the current coaching regime stays in place, is there really any point in bringing a young guy in anyway, since Tomlin has no record of being able to develop a QB? If Tomlin stays, are we maybe better off just continuing to bring in veterans? Your thoughts?

Would it be good to keep Rodgers for next year and let him mentor Howard? Push Howard up to backup. Going for Willis would be a crap shoot. Are we sure that he's the real deal when D coordinators can plan for him? I watched Ole Miss beat Georgia the other night and for the 1st time watched Trinidad Chambliss play. This kid reminds me a little of Lamar. He's always moving and can throw on the run. He's a senior. Where would he be available in the draft? What's the book on him? He's not very.big. I want to see him at the camp in Idianappolis. See his 40 time. -
I don’t think we will ever see a young QB developed under Tomlin. I know Tomlin “loved” Willis but I can’t see this front office going after Willis. I’m also a bit angry at Willis for taking himself out of the Rats game while driving for a TD. That felt scripted.Steelers 27

Drew Allar...not sure where he goes in the draft- but I like what I see. Howard looks very much like Mason Rudolph to me. Was talking with my brother yesterday (49ers fan). We agreed that the way the Steelers play each year just pushes them too far out of contention to really get a proper rebuild. If Rodgers goes another year then that is the way forward. If not- run with Mason as #1, Will Howard as #2 & draft a mid round guy now. That should put us in a position to draft higher. Trade TJ, Queen & Ramsey for draft collateral. Then go get the QB to finally replace Ben.The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

wish I could edit but wanted to add he will probably be available on Day 3. What I don’t understand is the hype for this kid. He has never shown anything outside of a few throws to Warren at TE making miracle catches. Maybe there is something that isn’t on tape but a QB like Allar needs a QB whisperer and a ton of seasoning and we don’t have that on our coaching staff.Steelers 27

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

In our draft range- Allar or Carson Beck are the most likely available & worthy of a look. Otherwise it's drafting a QB next season instead. If Beck wins the National Championship, that might put him in the hash marks. Allar has flaws, but he is a playmaker too. This team doesn't need a mechanical robot at QB. They need to be able to improvise & find ways to win. Trading TJ, Queen, Metcalf- there would be a return of some kind for these guys. Someone will bite on TJ for sure. Queen & Metcalf might bring in early mid round types. The key would be draft collateral. The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

TJ has value. Someone migjt bite of he is offered. But not a BAD TEAM DRAFTING EARLY. TJ could be a missing piece for a good team that needs to win NOW. No team that drafts early is gonna want a declining Watt.sigpic

You're right. Which is why we should have traded him a year or two ago, as I amd a few others suggested.Originally posted by Captain LemmingTJ has value. Someone migjt bite of he is offered. We aren’t trading Watt. That time has passed. Allar is not a playmaker and Beck is hot and cold but would be a great Day 3 pick. The guy I want is smallish but a playmaker. Chambliss, QB from Ole Miss. He is trying to get a waiver to play another year. Have no idea why, his stock will be high if he makes the Championship game.Steelers 27

No young QB is s ure thing and the fail rate is high My preference would be draft someone in Round 2 or 3 (Nussmeir or Allar) and convince Rodgers to play one more year. That way we have both Howard and a new young guy developing under Rodgers and then let them battle"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment
