Sometimes you've got to fool them.

I've been thinking about our offensive performance last night. The Chargers defense is good but not that good. The Steelers coaching staff is not suitable for the new NFL. The days of beating people simply by physical dominance are over. Modern day players are strong and quick at all positions. You got to change it up. You got to fool them. Do something different. Change it up in the 2nd half. The Chargers knew what we were going to do.

While I agree we need to be more creative week to week to fool some teams, the bigger problem last night was that Rodgers forgot how to throw. He was terrible. Every pass sailed on him. That was the worst game of his career. Something had him shook. Maybe he saw ghosts coming through the oline? Maybe something in his personal life? Maybe he smoked something a little too strong the night before? Whatever it was, that was a different guy on the field last night and I didn't even see him attempt smelling-salts his way out of the funk.

I understand Rodgers was bad. We should have run Warren 25 times. Maybe the Chargers were covering up all our receiving lanes. Did the Chargers play zone or man on? Did they mix it up? It doesn't matter, we are bad. Under the present management we will continue to achieve mediocrity. It is obvious we need to lay a new foundation and start over. I sure hope I eat these words but as the Germans say genug ist genug

This is one of Tomlin's big weaknesses. We do what we do, we just have to execute and play better.

Ownership failed not getting a true #2 WR. DK is easily taken out of the game with no other threats. The other WRs do not get open. The line is not good even with getting young guys. Jones is looking like a bust. 3 TEs criminally underused - 6 targets. Warren had 14 carries and is averaging 12 a game. Better than Canada but Smith is not the answer.

Hard to run Warren 25 times when we can't even get a first down. This was one time when I have to agree that execution was the primary problem. And the primary problem with execution was Rodgers. Then you throw in some dropsies and missed blocking assignments and you end up with 3 points on offense (the other 7 was in garbage time).

Pickens as the #2 WR sure would have helped.
