Face it my friends, Steelers are like a box of chocolates...

...Never know what you're gonna get. That is not all bad. While every game is scary, we don't need to ever see a game as unwinnable. The fact that there is zero correlation between who we play and success is both frustrating AND exciting. If (no guarantee) we make the playoffs, this team COULD go on a run.

I get what you're saying but it suggests a major shortcoming to me. The team plays when it wants too. Emotion plays too much of a part in the outcome. I'm not saying that this is what I'm convinced of but it is strange. We played the worst half of defensive football in the 2nd half against the Packers that I remember. We had a 2 score lead at the half. The next week we get 6 TOS after 2 games without one that I can remember. I don't think we will ever contend under our present modus operandi. Perhaps we will have to wait until Mike T's contract runs out. I have mixed emotions so to speak, it would be better for us to go 6-11 so we can get on with the new regime but I'm a fan first and take it game by game.

I know "emotion" is the historical narrative. But there were REAL CHANGES that created different results. 1. Did it finally "click" for Wilson? If so that changes everything going forward. 2 More zone less man. We made a MASSIVE strategic mistake expecting old corners and a grabby young one to dominate elite receivers in their prime. Zone was KEY to all the turnovers. In zone you read the QB, can attack the ball. QB is not sure who is covering as receivers cross zones leading to mistakes. Quick throw are reduced with reading the defense being more complex. This leads to those missing sacks and turnover creating hits. 3. Less blitzing. As above slows the reads, more dbs in coverage, attacking the ball. Part of TJ and Highsmiths underwhelming production was qbs hitting open receivers quickly. More in coverage makes that harder. More players in zone coverage leads to turnovers. 4. Is aging Ramsey a blah corner but an ELITE safety? Injury might have forced our hand but he played the best safety of anybody this season. And the new guy was slid too. We did this to the BEST OFFENSE IN THE LEAGUE. Despite my thread title we might be seeing fundamental changes that are not just random or on game emotion. Time will tell but we might be seeing a combination of players getting it, right strategy, and players being finally put in the right places to succeed. A week ago, I thought we had NO CHANCE against Lamar for example. Now I think we have a chance. If my assessment is true, what happened in our losses are not indicative of what we can expect going forward. I would suggest that Indy would have smoked us a couple of weeks ago. That is a good thing.

This team won't do **** in the playoffs. Once again they'll play like crap because Mike Tomlin can't motivate all the cancers he created in the locker room. Get rid of Tomlin, Khan and the ownership group then the Steelers might be able to repair the garbage product on the field.

Who is a cancer? They got rid of both players you called cancers (I agreed on Pickens, but disagreed on Minkah) last season. But per your opinion we got rid of the worst cancers. Pickens had first round talent but lasted to the second because of his attitude in college. Tomlin did not make him a cancer.

Well Captain I understand your statement. So we were better against the Colts because we played zone as opposed to man on man. Ramsey played safety and he is better suited to safety. Maybe the new guy Dugger is good in run defense. What you say seems logical but it still represents a lack of talent evaluation. It took us 9 weeks into the season to put together a defensive plan? Maybe the Colts aren't really that good. Maybe Danny Jones isn't the best QB in the AFC. We will find out this Sunday night. Do you have confidence in the Steelers winning this one. I want us to win but I think we regress to the mean and give up 30+ and get spanked but I hope you're right.

Chargers, Bengals, Bears are the next 3. Could win all 3. Then the Bills. That will be interesting.

It all will be good until we get to 9 wins then the wheels will fall off.

BN, I am concerned about this weeks game. We struggle on the west coast for years, even bad teams beat us

If they are a box of chocolates the Bengals game must have been the coconut piece.

We’ll get a first round playoff elimination from Tomlin like he’s done since 2016. We know exactly what we will get from Tomlin
