There’s a decent chance that the rest of the AFC North will lose road games today and tomorrow so things might be looking really good going into the bye week.Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment

Tomlin play calling in lousy. That hasn't changed. Fact that AAron can sling it and put it on target to allow yac is nice to see. Thought interior OL played a bit better today. They were able to stay on blocks and get up the field. Not good but better. Ability to pressure (6 sacks) was a good sign for our D. Herbig's get off is special.Comment

I said earlier in the week that it’s usually a mistake to use one game as a prediction - but I have to admit I’m not as pessimistic about the teams trajectory as I was 2 weeks ago and then last week after the win in NE. The defense was pretty solid today. Splash plays, sacks, turnovers. They did it all. Many who reside low on the depth chart showed up big today. The offense looked efficient and we had a decent run game. The o-line play today was not stellar - but acceptable. Still a ton of room there to improve. Now, letting the Vikings claw back down by 18 with 10 minutes remaining is downright criminal - but as I’ve also said over the years, there is no such thing as a safe lead with Tomlin. The decision to punt on 4th and a foot was total coward. BUT ——- the Steelers are 3-1 into the bye. Rodgers has been solid. DK looks like a wonderful pickup. In fact, all the FA signings this year look really good. So yeah, I’m in a great mood tonight. Especially with the rats at 1-3.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

The worm is starting to turn. The defense is starting to fix their communication issues and are playing faster. The offensive line appears to be slowly improving each week. There were some definite hiccups yesterday and it never should have gotten that close at the end. But it was the first time we saw sustained glimpses of how good the team can be on both sides of the ball in the same game. Too bad about the injuries to Austin and Ramsey, but the bye week should help the rest of the team get healthy and adjust. A pretty nice situation in the AFC North at the quarter pole!sigpic

Despite the 4th quarter game management issues, I thought the Steelers out-coached the Vikings yesterday, something I didn’t expect. Kudos to Tomlin and staff. Specifically, they really used the heavy set on offense with Washington and Anderson as jumbo TEs, opened up good running lanes and pass pro’d well. On D, they took advantage of the Viking’s injured OL and applied constant pressure. Would have liked to see them go for the kill shot in the 4th, but overall this was a huge step forward.Comment

McCormick was a pulling guard as well. They overwhelmed the right side of the DL with more than half of Gainwells yards to that side.👍 1Comment
