“Kaleb didn’t break tackles at Iowa”

He played on a team where he was literally the only offensive threat, teams stacked the line every play on him. Had 1725 yards at Iowa last year, his QBs threw for 1711. What he didn’t do is return kicks.

The Steelers haven't had a top 10 defense since 2020. They haven't had a top 10 offense since 2018. They have certainly had quality players in that time span. The one common thread continues to be the HC, his ego and stubborn inability to change HIS ways. The Steelers are predictable on both sides, there is nothing innovative about this team - and there hasn't been for quite awhile. I continue to hope I'm wrong - but also continue to believe a Tomlin coached team will be average, competitive but never elite.

Now, if there was one thing they could do now to fix the team - the answer to me is completely obvious. Do whatever it takes to get a quality offensive line coach asap. The O-line hasn't been effective since Munchak was allowed to leave. If the Steelers have missed on all their drafts and FA signings with the O-line, then we can't do any worse. But IF there is some talent there, we clearly don't have the right staff to develop it or use it properly.

They so desperately need an O-line that can establish a run game. That by doing so can open up the passing game. That can keep their 41 year old QB off the ground. A unit that can sustain long drives, tilt time of possession and by doing THAT, keep our defense off the field so they are rested (and not puking mid game) and are challeged with a lesser amount of plays to contend with.

There are a ton of things that need fixed - but the best and most feasible solution for what ails them currently is what I said above IMO. Fix the O-line and that will solve many problems and help mitigate and mask the problems that still remain.

But a mid-season coaching change? he's done it exactly one time in the last 19 years. No way Tomlin does it again. That would be an admission that he was wrong and I seriously doubt his ego can absorb that twice in a career.
The difference in the game were the mistakes the Steelers made. Difficult to win games with mistakes.

The question I have for you is why didn't you learn this by now?

Getting pushed around on the LOS on both sides of the ball is not a mistake.

Mistakes (and BIG ones) will lose us a game against a team like the Seahags.

But when the defense can't stop the run, and we can't run the ball, teams like the RATS, Bills, Colts, etc. are going to kill us.

If the trend continues, this defense will be historic but for all the wrong reasons.

The truth, coaches trust players to know the rules after they were taught. The truth, fans still lack understanding of the NFL game.
Every former player that's been talked to about this says this is the coaches error in not drilling him on kickoff rules. Chris Canty on ESPN (former super bowl champion) said all rookies are suppose to be in various special teams meeting and they are constantly drilled on the rules. He said Johnson not being sure about the rules is on the coaches.

                          You're right, he doesn't.

He just lets them go untouched into the endzone for the other team to recover for a TD.

Charlie Batch disagreed on his post game show. But I have to disagree with him... when you have a rookie back there returning a kick, I'd have to think the first thing any special teams coach should be saying to him, is that, no matter what, you have to cover the ball. It's live. Whatever you do, even if you gain no yards, cover the ball!

You have to help a rookie take some thinking out of the game. As soon as he's ready to go out there, you tell him to make sure to cover a live ball. I'd imagine every special teams coach in the league is doing this now!

I should have been more specific.

                                My response to this part:
All his best runs were huge holes, no contact.
Depot Dave has a great post on Najee's explosive runs in college.
Do the Pittsburgh Steelers have their sights set on Alabama running back Najee Harris early in the 2021 NFL Draft? It’s quite possible and especially

IIRC, on average first contact on his explosive plays was 10+ yards downfield.

It's why he's never had a play as long as Warren's long last game. And Warren is also a guy who hasn't had a ton of long runs.
