I'm no OL expert. I think it was the Scout's Eye guy that I heard say that he's really only a one side guy.
Peat was inactive. Anderson got a helmet. So he seems to at least be the injury replacement in game (probably because he can play both sides).
And Peat is listed on the depth chart as a G FWIW...some guys are just listed as OL, others T, others G. Not sure how much the positions matter on the depth chart. Especially for guys who aren't starting.
Sadly looking like Jones might be a no side guy. 3 sacks in one game. And it seems like we face all the good edge rushes in the league (that aren't on our team). Some of the best 2x. Wonder if we would consider moving TF to the left and putting Jones on the right.
Ultimately, if Jones fails at LT I don't think we have any reasonable options on the roster.Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 09-09-2025, 10:11 AM.Comment

Won’t get that much easier for the Steelers’ OTs this week. Demarcus Lawrence and Boye Mafe are a formidable EDGE rotation. Leonard Williams on the interior ain’t too shabby either.Comment

Did anybody listen to what Coach Mike T said in direct questions about Jones?. It was Monday I believe. He said everybody made mistakes, the OL got to play better, same old bull.
I thought he should have put Jones on the spot. He should have said yes 3 sacks is unacceptable, I expect improvement going forward. He would not call him out. That's a bad sign. Jones psychy is so weak the coach is worried about his ability to take criticism. That's how I read it.
It will be very interesting to see how we replace Jones. I don't think he's getting any better.Comment

There is no replacement on the roster IMO.
My general opinion on press conferences is also that we have a head coach that doesn't publicly throw players under the bus. Seems like Foster (on his podcast) talks about Tomlin reaming players out, so it's not like it doesn't happen. We just keep our dirty laundry behind closed doors (correctly IMO).
One of the things Foster says that Tomlin tells players frequently is something like "I will put up with you until I don't have to anymore". And while it's usually said about behavioral issues, I think it fits here too. With no real alternative at LT (unless maybe we move TF over?), I think we're in the "we have to put up with Jones" part of the program.Last edited by Northern_Blitz; 09-10-2025, 02:20 PM.Comment

Broderick hasn’t shown much since the draft that he’s the guy.
If the Steelers went into this season without a viable plan B - that would be criminal negligence.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

Then head to the management office and make a citizen's arrest. Cause this offensive line continues to be sad. Run game is abismal.Comment

Now the real criminal negligence was keeping Pat Meyer around. To spend two firsts and a second on OL and keep that bum around is crazy.👍 2Comment

Welp, at least Jones was better than Moore's Wk1:

Left tackle Broderick Jones was responsible for three sacks, but Rodgers isn't pointing the fingerComment

I would expect Rodgers to stand up.for his OL. He's a good leader and his health depends more on Jones than any other lineman.
I hear all you guys saying Mike T doesn't want to throw anybody under the bus. Everybody.who watched the game knows Jones was bad. Was it someone else's mistake that caused him to give up those 3 sacks?
Hope springs eternal for Mike T but enough is enough. Jones has got to go up against Garrett and the kid from Cincy. It does not look good. He looks like his feet get to far apart. He would be easy to knock down or get around. I'll stop my ranting but this could be the downfall of our season.👍 1Comment

Steelers OL Broderick Jones takes responsibility for poor showing, vows to keep 'next play mentality'
SEP 10, 2025
The past month and change have been an ebb and flow for Broderick Jones.
For the first week or so of training camp, he struggled mightily, from full team periods to one-on-one drills to a balky hamstring that caused him to miss some practice time. But in the preseason, Jones seemed to right himself to some degree, more good than bad entering Week 1.
Then the Jets sacked Aaron Rodgers four times Sunday at MetLife Stadium, with Jones looking like the weak link on more than one occasion. He actually was dinged with three sacks allowed by Pro Football Focus.
“I can’t put that on tape,” Jones said Wednesday after practice. “I know that. Everybody knows that.”
Jones has always been pretty good about facing the music from reporters in the locker room after a rough game. He admitted “everything” needs to improve but couldn't pinpoint one area in particular.
And Jones, the 14th overall pick in 2023, insisted he hasn’t lost confidence. He’s trying to keep a “next play mentality,” even on days like that when he’s finding himself in quicksand against a pass rusher such as Jets defensive end Will McDonald IV or walked back by powerful interior lineman Quinnen Williams.
“It’s always the same mindset going in — you’ve just got to continue to prepare the right way and hope for the best,” Jones said.
Getting Jones on track might be the No. 1 task for offensive line coach Pat Meyer. Back in training camp, Meyer sounded optimistic about his progress.
Meyer saw Jones learning from his older teammates, maturing and “growing up.”
“He’s becoming more and more consistent every day,” Meyer said July 31. “Even in his work habits, he’s more consistent — in his finish, the way he’s trying to take every drill and take it to heart. We’ve just got to keep progressing with him.”
It was a bumpy start to the real thing, but Jones has gotten plenty of public optimism thrown his way from two of the most important people in the building. Coach Mike Tomlin stood behind him Tuesday.
On Wednesday, quarterback Aaron Rodgers fell on some grenades himself, noting he wasn’t moving around as well as he could be at age 41. He even took blame for running into a sack or two.
“I really like Brod,” Rodgers said. “I got to know him during training camp. I like what he’s about. I like his attitude. He’s a genuinely positive guy. I’ve got a lot of confidence in him.”
Jones can be hard on himself and demonstrative on the field. This is a make-or-break season, in some ways, given the Steelers will decide on his fifth-year option in the spring.
Meyer said, even if Tomlin and Rodgers are shielding him from the spotlight a bit, Jones isn’t a former first-round pick who needs coddled. He can take hard coaching and he’s gotten his share of it.
“At times, yeah. You push different buttons with different people,” Meyer said. “He’s been good. He’s been solid. But, yeah, they all need challenged. Whether it’s behind closed doors or out here in front of their peers or in front of everyone else, they need challenged. You need to keep your foot on all of them every time, every rep. Winning every rep, that’s our focus.”
No one in the NFL can win every rep, but Jones understands he lost too many Sunday. Now he’ll try to turn the page to Seattle.
