Hoping for the best, especially on a 1 year deal.

but I thought we dodged a bullet 2 years ago when he went to the jets.

so I’m not optimistic. But I sure hope I’m wrong.

Maybe Rodgers can magically reverse time and go back to his form of 4 or 5 years ago, and lead us to a Super Bowl. That would be awesome, I would be cheering him all the way.

More likely, we'll have a 4-time MVP leading us to a 10-7 record and early out in the playoffs. I'm still skeptical about any kind of real championship run. And likely next year, we're looking for a starting QB all over again.

Russell Wilson... then Aaron Rodgers... who's next, bring Tom Brady out of retirement? Peyton Manning?

Bad analogy. I'd be a lot more excited about banging my high school crush.

                      And I don't think they're idiots.

They working on making the team competitive for a playoff spot during a rebuild. Hoping against hope that they'll have the opportunity to draft a difference maker at QB. But we'll probably need a "best QB draft of the generation" for this to happen again. Just like when we drafted Ben. Because the team is too good to get a top couple QBs in a QB class that anyone thinks has the potential to land a long term starter.

I guess it comes down to priorities. If the priority is to draft a high potential QB next season, the obvious choice would have been to start Rudolph and possibly Howard. If the priority is to win a playoff game, then the choice was to sign Rodgers and deal with the hand they are given next draft.

IMO the priority is to remain competitive for at least a playoff spot every year. Or at least that has been the business model since Cowher became coach.

This team is never going to try to tank to get a better draft pick. At least not while a Rooney is leading the team.

                            exactly
rooney and tomlin want that .500 season .
they have stooped so low that the goal has become a singular playoff win in a decade.
tomlin fans will then say, ‘ we are really close, just need a good draft and we can compete’. been hearing this for a long time now
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Reported that he got ~$10MM fully guaranteed with another $3.65(salary?) then bonuses up to $19.5 MM?

My guess is that it's something like $10MM SB + $3.65MM salary + bonuses up to $19.5MM. Some of those bonuses will likely be tied to playoff success.

I was thinking just under $20MM. This will probably be a little better than that depending on what the bonuses are.
