take it for what its worth.
only 3 of our picks had official visits..
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
I think they missed on where they thought a few guys would go.
Justin Walley in the 3rd was unexpected - I kept seeing late day 3 projections.
I also think they expected McCord in the 6th, but he was gone so they took Howard.
yup.
looks like most of their invites were 3rd or better

Did we talk to any of these guys at the combine or on pro days? We like to draft guys from the Big 10 and the SEC. We stayed in the Big 10. The 7th rd pick was from Central Michigan and he hails from Harrisburg High.
This was more of a character, attitude draft. We went with past experience and you got to trust the Steelers brain trust. Otherwise follow another team. It might be a couple years at least before any changes take place.

Neither OSU player was in for a visit, but I heard on a podcast recently the guy believes that both were at the pro-day dinner that the Steelers always do.
Should have selected McCord in the 1st like Joel suggested instead of taking a chance on losing him like this.
As a Buckeye fan I'm not sure that there is a lot of difference between Howard and McCord. Based on my eye test. I believe Howard has a bigger arm and is willing to do more to keep the play alive. McCord had a chance to come back and compete but he choose to move on if not given a guarantee.
I can tell you that Howard is thought of as better in Columbus. The Steelers had plenty of opportunity to watch both of these QBS. We will see if they made the better choice.
