The only team that I can think of that had a position player long snapping for them is the Giants, which is ironic, since they are the team that benefitted when we had to have a position player fill in at long snapper (they have used LB Zak DeOssie and DT Jay Alford). Every other team has a designated long snapper like us.
That's what I mean. There is alot of angst on the board about keeping a LS (especially last year when we had AQS). But, it's a fact of life and it's not going to change.

      3. I think Urbik is being underestimated and isn't a question mark.

      4. I think both Sunny Harris and Doug Worthington both have a shot to oust Nick Eason.

Urbik is definitely a question mark. He is the 3rd string center behind Hartwig and Legursky (not even counting Pouncey), the 3rd string LG behind Kemo and Foster and the 4th string RG behind Essex, Pouncey and Foster.
If you have Pouncey, do you really need Legursky as a back up Center especially if Urbik proves he can handle Center in an emergency too? That is the issue that will play out in camp. I'm betting Urbik gets the spot.

      Here's a picture of Urbik at mini-camp...

I think Will Allen is the Back up at SS.
When he was signed all the initial speculation was that- he was being brought in to replace Clark. Thankfully, that was not the case.

The only designation I can find of his safety position was for a couple of seasons in Tampa- he was listed as a FS-

Even on the Steelers' site- he is only designated as S. Not SS or FS.

You may be correct- the staff wants him to fill TC role of swing safety- backing up both positions.

Bottomline is that Ryan Mundy is in a "show me" pre-season. Will Allen really puts him at risk and he better get the hint. He has shown nothing after a strong early showing his rookie year and we went out and got a couple UDFA safeties and they have clear targets on Mundy's position on this team.

I've always liked Mundy and have pulled for him but can't say he has done anything to lead me to believe he has a future on this team.

            you've sold me.

Kidding aside, I am persuaded by your thinking on this.

I think you are correct; Mundy is going to have to show a lot in camp, to keep his roster spot.
