Who will pick him up and try to make a QB out of him?

I say the skins. He can sit at #3 and learn from Mcnabb. A much better situation then the raiders.

I can see the Clowns makin a run possibly. Delhomme is short term, and while Colt is their "future", you never know and perhaps they would want Russell as back up and/or replacement for Delhomme while McCoy sits for a little while longer.

With Pouncey taking over C for the next ten years, we will have to choose a new position for this joke. How about 'Can he play RG?' You know the old saying, when you have 6 RG, you dont have any RGs. The only other position Im concerned about is S, if Troy (or Clark) goes down, we have Mundy and a ST demon to fill his shoes.

NT maybe, we could groom him to take over after Hampton retires?

JaMarcus Russell: NFL's biggest No. 1 bust?

Isn't it odd that most of the wretched wastes of the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft have come in the last 15 years? With all the scouting and video analysis, shouldn't the pro teams be getting better at this?

The latest failure is JaMarcus Russell, released by the Oakland Raiders today. It's easy to classify Russell as the biggest bust among No. 1 overall picks, since there was speculation that his weight bloated to more than 300 pounds. But is he also the best example of a blown top pick?

Let's trot out the usual suspects. (And one note: We've had comments asking how could we forget Ryan Leaf. As bad as Leaf was, he wasn't the No. 1 overall pick. He was taken second in 1998, behind Peyton Manning.)

Russell: Leaves Oakland with a 7-18 record as a starter and mustered only three TD throws last season. Not much of a return for the $39 million Oakland has paid him.

Alex Smith, 2005: He might yet right his ship with the 49ers, but so far shows no sign of becoming a franchise player, with a career passer rating of 69.2.

David Carr, 2002: Never panned out for Houston, but those 249 sacks in five seasons behind a porous offensive line had a lot to do with it.

Michael Vick, 2001: It's tough to call a three-time Pro Bowler a bust, except for when his stay with the team ends with a federal prison sentence.

Tim Couch, 1999: Those staggering college numbers he compiled at Kentucky were never repeated for the Cleveland Browns.

Ki-Jana Carter, 1995: Never recovered from tearing an ACL in a rookie preseason game for Cincinnati, and managed only 1,144 career rushing yards over 10 seasons.

You mean a former #1 pick in the draft is available to us at a Vet minimum? Does it get better than that?

I suspect the Bengals will sign Russell.

he was horrible, I remember espn doing a story on him when he was the last camp holdout during training camp, it was the first time I ever thought, wow, this guy has never played a down in the nfl and is turning down 70 million dollars, 40 million guarenteed and he sucks so badly, I really believe that if that were me, I would give the organization half my money...

Yeah, JaMarcus could probably deep throat a half-dozen of these hot dogs at once!

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

At one time his weight was reported to be close to about 290lbs. Yea that was probably photoshp but the dude got real fat!!!

I actually cannot believe that he was taken #1 overall. I don't know one unqualified person that thought he would amount to anything in the NFL. I hope he invested his money well.
