The Steelers need a more explosive running game and that would help either Wilson or Fields and I think the Steelers will focus on that in the draft. Najee just didn't live up to expectations. He had a three game stretch where he looked very good but didn't piece together a complete season that was above average so he will definitely be replaced. Warren is a number two running back. His production tailed off from last season and was more dinged up and still is a ball security question mark.
I think it is doubtful that Fields will develop into the proverbial franchise quarterback in his fifth season, but he has improved each season and I look at a QB like Sam Darnold who did not play well until his seventh season and I think it could happen. Whether the Steelers have the coaching staff is something that I wouldn't take the statements from message boards as the final determination of that. None of us have had enough exposure to the coaches to get a true feel for the ability as coaches. But I think they are probably better than message boards give them credit for being but it as always is ultimately up to the player.
More help at WR also. So the Steelers won't be favorites to win the SuperBowl. They wouldn't be even if they fired Mike Tomlin either. Probably make the players unhappy just some fans would be happy. But he certainly bears his share of responsibility. The team petered out per usual and they didn't at the end have the roster to beat the top teams, I don't think a different coach would have done better. But I'm not that worried about him. If he leaves it will be interesting to see if he continues to coach and how well he does.Comment

I'd put this another way. The running game never came around as expected during the last 4 years. There is little chance of that happening with the OL as it is. Open up more running lanes, give the QB time, and both facets of the O will improve. Still don't believe Najee is "the guy" but the system and the line ensured that he would fail.

For 10 years, Russell Wilson was the face of the Seattle Seahawks. That changed when he was traded to the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2022 season. Wilson’s image also changed that year.
Once seen as a premier franchise quarterback, Wilson became a problem in Denver. He was released after just two seasons, landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024.
The Steelers elected to go in a different direction this year, leading to Wilson joining the New York Giants. Despite his tenure in Pittsburgh being short, Wilson looked back with fondness while speaking on the 7Pm in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast.
"Pittsburgh was a good place for me, man. It really helped rejuvenate me, just in every way, just because of the locker room there, the pros, guys like TJ Watt and Cam Heyward," Wilson said.
He was also complimentary of head coach Mike Tomlin, who he says is one of the best coaches the league has ever seen.
“I think there's three things about Mike Tomlin that's special. I think the first thing is his ability, his obsession, his work ethic. He's there early at 4:30 in the morning and watching the film himself. Head coaches don't do that.”
Wilson will have a tough time keeping his job in New York with rookie Jaxson Dart behind him. Still, he has faith that he can be a starter and believes his time in Pittsburgh will help him going forward.Comment

Giants' passing game not sharp
Mentioned after practice that the pass game wasn't sharp today. Here are the stats: Russell Wilson: 7-12, Jaxson Dart: 2-5, Jameis Winston: 2-9, Tommy DeVito: 2-3.
Camp stats are camp stats, but those completion percentages represent the effectiveness of the passing game. The first-team offense had a first down at the opposing 20 in a move-the-ball period. Wilson completed 2-of-7 passes as the "drive" came up empty with a turnover on downs.
LB Bobby Okereke made a nice play to break on a slant and leap to knock it away. Had been a quiet start to camp for Okereke.
Wilson did finish practice by finding Darius Slayton cutting across the end zone for a TD after the starters got one final play from the 7-yard line.Comment
