This is what Art should do.

I've been thinking about it and reading all the obituaries. Art sees all this too and he must feel the same way we do. We got to do something different.

Mike Tomlin is signed to 2026? He won't be fired. If there is going to be any change Art is going to bring in a defensive mind to run the defense. He will step on Mike Tomlins toes. That loss last night was a total embarrassment to the Steeler way. 300 yards of rushing against us.

Perhaps by doing this Art can then convince Mike T to allow himself to be traded to save face. Bringing in a D mind to take over the defense would be an insult to Mike T.

If we just let things go on as they are that would be Mike Brown like and the Rooney's are patient but enough is enough.

What I think people need to understand is this Rooney isn’t concerned about winning. We’ve heard comments in the past that support this and plenty of empty ‘threats’ after every season. The most gullible continue to be fooled. He has a different agenda. Until they stop making money, he won’t change.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Rooney will never do that, the only hope we have is Tomlin wants out. What will be funny is hearing Rooney's post season talk to the press, last year he said it was time to win a playoff game, well the team wasn't even close last night. What will be the excuse this time I wonder.

Who’s going to be the year’s scapegoat?

They will never stop making money. As someone pointed out in another post the $ are in the TV. No I offered a scenario for Art to move on from the status quo that will save face for everybody.

The Rooney's , I believe don't want to turn into Mike Brown. H*'ll even Mike Brown didn't want to be Mike Brown anymore.

I just have a hunch something is coming soon.

I predict DC Austin will get the run over by bus treatment

Yet everyone knows who's defense he's running

I think you could actually be right. Last year I was hopeful for a change but after last night I'm just finding it hard picturing Tomlin continuing as coach for this team. If Rooney was actually watching the game I just don't know how he can come to any other conclusion that a change has to happen at this point.

It would be one thing if the Steelers really did just need a QB and that's what was holding the team back in the playoffs but the cold reality is defense has been absolutely horrendous in each playoff loss and Tomlin is a defensive coach, it's the highest paid in the league. I think this is the most damning evidence that it's past time to move on. Last night it was 21-0 at halftime and Ravens ran up 300 yards on the ground, that's insane. And the game wasn't as close as the score would indicate, like the Bills last year the Ravens called off the dogs in the second half and just milked the clock, both teams could've scored 40 easily.

Teryl Austin signed a 2 year extension before this season.

                He's not going anywhere.

I understand you are thinking like I think. Art is too cheap and won't eat Austin's money. I would have to agree with you but I'm not sure we understand how bad we were beaten Saturday night.

I believe that was the most rushing yards gained against the Pittsburgh Steelers ever. Since 1933 no one has run the ball down our throats like that. Ernie Stautner, Marion Motley, Joe Greene, Dwight White, L C Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, John Banazak, And all the modern guys like Casey Hampton, Aaron Smith, Brett Kiesel and on and on can not tolerate this a** whippin we got. Art knows this . If we don't fire Austin and keep Mike T you know what's going to happen next year. We are sh*t next year.

Does Art live in Pittsburgh? I cannot believe he can go around in polite society in the Burg and not feel embarrassed. The Steel city my a**. That's what Yinzers are thinking.

Doesn't any remaining salary owed to Austin get offset by any new contract he signs? Regardless, that two-year extension is through 2025...just one season to go. For all of the things you stated and because his defense has become so bad, AR2 has to see his head must roll. Of course, he and everyone else knows that it is Tomlin's defense, so maybe that truth will spare him the axe. This team needs a new DC that has innovative concepts and will have significant input to the gameplan and play-calling each week. Tomlin himself needs to recognize this.

I don't know about that, but Austin likely makes around $2M as a DC and I think that the extension is through 2025, so $2M left. Not the same as still owing Tomlin around $45M over the next 3 years.

In order to be successful, either the head coach needs to change, or the head coach needs to change.

(either he needs to change his ways or they need a new person)

You all know me. I’ve said from early on that this guy is a great motivator, but needs good coordinators to be successful. He just hasn’t done a very good job of picking them out.

I think the offense needs to be brought out of the 80’s and into the 21st-century. Harrison, someone to do that and let him cook.

As it stands, this defense is good enough if the offense is putting up 35…

Still, like most, I wouldn’t be opposed to a better defensive coordinator as well.

He'd probably get like a DB coach job at best. Probably not worth it at 60 when you can essentially roll into retirement with the first two years paid for.
