    Sweed injures Achilles

    From the Steelers facebook page:

In the last of five minicamp practices, Limas Sweed injured his Achilles. Coach Mike Tomlin said Sweed's status will be determined by an examination, but a torn Achilles tendon is an injury that can require up to 12 months of rehabilitation.

True. Could there be some good news this offseason for a change?

        Limas Sweed is a malingerer.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Let's just hope it's not a tear and just inflamed or something.

I was really hoping he would turn it around. The Steelers only seem to have bad luck at the moment.
The Steelers’ went through seven consecutive drafts (2003-09) without taking an offensive lineman in the first two rounds, the longest such streak by any franchise this century.

He just got another free year of paychecks. I injured my achilles (not torn). Its taken almost a year and it still hurts when I play even softball. Pretty lame injury to have. So I wish his recovery well. I wish I made that much money to sit in a tub and attempt recovery.

Them inserting that last little tidbit about torn achilles' isn't encouraging. I did not have high hopes for him, but I do wish/hope the guy gets a good crack at it this training camp. Hopefully it's not torn.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Condolences to Limas, hope it is not serious still. Really want to see him make it, for the Steelers and for himself.

Unfortunate that it happened. I hoped that he would become a good player for us.

At least the Steelers can look at some other options at WR before the season starts. They might bring Galloway back.

Galloway has already signed with somebody. I can't remember who at the moment.
Tuff break for Limas. I was really rooting for him to turn it around. Bummer!

                            Galloway signed w the Deadskins.

Why would anyone wish Sweed to be out for the season. I'm willing to see him at least make an effort. I'd rather see his career end b/c he was a flat out bust than b/c of an injury.

drafting two WRs this year is starting to look like a smart move...

Steelers wide receiver may have serious tendon injury

                              Sunday, May 02, 2010
                              By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The bad luck continued today for Steelers wide receiver Limas Sweed, who left the final minicamp practice with what appears to be a serious Achilles tendon injury, coach Mike Tomlin revealed.

Sweed, the team's second-round draft pick in 2008, was mounting a comeback from some emotional issues that caused the Steelers to place him on injured reserve for the final two games of last season.

If the tendon is ruptured, it likely would mean that Sweed could not play in 2010.
