    rare fun night at Heinz....

Just got home. I'm sure I'll have more to say after a good nights sleep - but a few raw thoughts right now.

I didn't mind Tomlin making the switch to see what he had with Russ - but if it went south we all know he would have been destroyed.

I was very concerned with Russ making his first start, we would struggle against the Jets defense and that Rogers would have an advantage. At 15-6 I can tell you the entire stadium was on edge. Rogers got the ball in the 2 minute drill, was clearly going to be aggressive and the fact the Jets would get the 2nd half kickoff - all 68k fans were tearing their hair out because we've seen how this story ends far too many times.

But despite having a very rough year to date - Beanie Bishop decided to single handedly turn the game around and completely flip the script.

Be honest, did ANYONE see Beanie having 2 picks - one nearly a pick 6 and allowing the steelers to take a commanding lead? I sure as hell didn't

Russ was clearly rusty to start the game. The crowd wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but when he planted 3 throws in the dirt - the boos started. And to be fair, those boos were earned. But credit to Russ, for staying focused - working through it and catching fire in the second half.

It's clear Russ will start next week, and if they destroy the Giants (which they should - so I guess it's a lead pipe lock it will be a nail biter) Russ will be the starter the rest of the season.

The offense looked like a pro offense. Yeah, GP was making ridiculous catches - but that's what you need sometimes. The TD to Van was a thing of beauty. Well set up, well designed and well executed.

I suppose the risk was minor - but going for it not once but twice on 4th down at the end of the game was interesting. a FG would have made it 18 points and sealed the victory as much as as TD - but to keep handing to Najee? Interesting call - but thrilled with the result. he was so happy for that TD - as well as the fans he jumped into the stands to be with.

special teams again had an amazing night. They have been lights out all year. crazy how many blocks and splash plays we're getting from that unit. Watching Danny Smith go ballistic after the Minkah penalty was highly entertaining.

Almost as entertaining as watching the Steelers block a FG - and then have a large bosomed lady run up the field. We were hoping for the tackle - but with 'me too', i'd say security handled it appropriately.

Renegade inspired the defense, who got the ball turned over on downs - followed by a 7 minute game ending drive by the offense. Couldn't script that any better, and it was executed to perfection. it was beautiful to watch.

If the Steelers take care of business against the Giants - hitting the bye week at 6-2, largely healthy and ready to make a run is a real accomplishment.

Watching the browns implode along the way and the bungles trying to keep pace is also fun to see.

Lot's of football left - but tonight was fun. Usually the steelers find a way to end up winning by one score - so to keep the foot on the gas and allow us to relax in the 4th quarter was a nice change.

Prime time steelers is a spectacle. I promise the rest of the league and the AFC North took notice tonight of this team.
