We need Najee right now, but after this season the Steelers would be wise to part ways with Harris
I have long been a critic of Harris, so some may see me as grinding on him. Whether or not I like the guy has nothing to do with the facts and results.
The facts are he is a bottom level starter in the NFL. His YPR and YPC sucks while the other backs on the Steelers don't. He cant run wide well, doesn't hit the hold quickly, and is easy to defend as an in the box back who runs in between the tackles. He is the one of the slowest starting backs in the NFL and one not likey to produce big plays. Too often he is hit for losses or 1 or 2 yards gains which puts the Steelers offense in a hole. In ligno scouting terms he is a north - south back with very little east - west running ability, speed, acceleration, and moves. He doesn't follow his blockers well either. He is a durable back and a decent ( but not very good or great ) power runner but that is as far as I go.
He is averaging 3.4 yards a carry, and has not scored a touchdown this year .
His latest gaffe in not running out of bounds to preserve clock late in the game was a stupid mistake. As was giving the fans the middle fighter. Expect the NFL to give a fine.
Soon Warren's injury will heal and maybe Patterson can be used more...both men are effective when healthy and two might be our 1-2 best combo. Think about that. Art Smith should.
There are also quite a few good college backs. Maybe we will draft one of them? The fact that the Steelers did not pick up a 5th year option on Harris, means he is likey gone next year.
I say good riddance
