    Horrible Coaching Decision?

What does the board think about Peyton giving up at the end of the game on Sunday?

After getting to within a score (13-6), Peyton elects to kickoff with 2:51 left with only 1 timeout.

I get that our offense has not been good. And that onside kicks have very low probability. But isn't this just conceding?

We did go 3 and out. Which is essentially the best case scenario for them. But even that took 1:45 off the clock, so they only got it back with 9s left on their own 19. Maybe they were playing for the 3 and out + the punt block? Not sure if that's any better chance than an onside kick.

So, it probably doesn't really matter because their win% must have been very small at that point anyway. But you'd think that the team would prefer the fighting chance at winning to just giving up (or rather hoping for either the punt block, the punt return for a TD, or the 80 yard hail Mary).

I know that some have Peyton on the list of coaches that are better than Tomlin. I have usually made the argument that they are basically the same. Similar win%, both were fortunate to have a HoF QB for a long time.

I like that Tomlin didn't quit on the team after that QB left. We'll see if Nix turns into anything, but my guess is that Tomlin will have more success post-Ben than Peyton has post-Brees.

I think it's like having 16 against a 10 in blackjack. Whatever you do it's low percentage.

Payton is a creation of Drew Brees. He has always been overrated. He has a losing record post-Brees. Tomlin has a winning record Post-Ben.

I agree that there isn't really a good choice here because the win% is so low.

My guess is that the onside kick was the better play to maximize expected value. But, it's to the point where it's almost certainly a loss either way.
