    This is fool's gold

Maybe I watched a different game yesterday but in my opinion this was one of the sloppiest, inept excuse of a football team I have seen in quite a while.

    Points:

1.) The penalties are absurd. Do they even practice? They are unacceptable.
2.) Fields just doesn't have it. A little pressure and he looks to run. A good defense will stop this.
3.) Another bobbled snap, although we are not sure who this is on, this is JV at best.
4.) Najee got high marks but I saw an uninspired RB going down like a 10-pin. Time to start Warren.
5.) Porter put your ego aside and be a team player. Burn the yellow gloves, nobody cared about your fashion statement. Wear gloves that match your opponents jersey. It's the little things.
6.) Pickens - What's with the toilet paper on your backside? Again, enough with the fashion statement.
7.) Fields still holds the ball way too long at times. I have no faith in Rust Wilson, but it might be time for a change.

There may be more but right now this reminds me of the year we started 11-0. Fool's gold, only a mattter of time.

Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I agree that we need the O to grow a lot before we get to the meat of the schedule.

I think this weekend will be an interesting test.

I love your honesty. I think we need more posters like you instead of fans pretending that everything is wonderful because we're 2-0 and in first place. You have a lot of good observations. Those issues you mentioned about Porter and Pickens may look minor but it is those type of things which tend to expand into bigger problems with team chemistry and in the locker room down the line.

It was almost an unwatchable game, with the penalties and uninspired play. I doubt Rust Wilson is the answer, but it may be time for a change.

Some people think ultra negativity equals such truth and such honesty. I just don't think negativity equals truth. Najee has become the board whipping boy and he did not run uninspired but people are just piling on him mindlessly and Warren has not looked better.

Fields definitely has some deficiencies in his passing game and I would like to see what Wilson can do.

Flag fest, true, sometimes officials call what other officials don't.

It is impossible to play this game flawlessly. If you watch other teams, there are loads of missed assignments and bad plays even on the best of teams.

And the game did have positives.

Nah.. its 2-0. Who said it was going to be pretty and we would see much better QB play this year?

Oh.. a lot of people said that.

Well, at least some were cautiously optimistic and said it would be ugly and we would have growing pains due to a new OL. Thing is, for the most part the OL has been a bright spot imo. Fields is just a 1 read QB and will grind out first downs and make the occasional nice throw. I think more targets to the TE’s could keep some drives alive. It can’t be Pickens up top or nothing at all.

Welp, I said the Steelers were likely to have a losing record in the first month of football given all the changes. Color me wrong on that one. They've manage to 'avoid' losses, which really is all you can expect as this offense continues to be installed.

Penalties; not just the Steelers. Some games this weekend were barely watchable (CHI-HOU).
              • 401 penalties to date; that's a little over 6 per team per game.
              • Steelers have been bad, with 3X that many already. The positive is that they have net positive yards factoring in opponent penalties.
              • Majority of penalties are on the offense and ST. Not completely unexpected, considering the changes in OL in the first two weeks.
              • Half the penalties have been presnap, teachable moments.

The Steelers are partying like it's 1999, baby!

77 runs the first two weeks, the most since 1999.

2-0 on the road for the first time since, you guessed it, 1999.

Let's hope the season ends better than 1999.

On Pickens it is not his fault his 50 yard play was taken away by a flag. He is a star player playing with a bad qb.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Pickens is a clown. He stands up after a routine catch and first down and stands and points for 10 seconds. A Tomlin team through and through. The nonsense has been obvious for almost 10 years.
