    Things I think

    Things I think.

Qb is what it is. We can pass for much yardage but use Pickens who will make any quarterback look good just enough. I swear Fields has tunnel vision, as he locks on one man and scans the field poorly. The Fumbles remain an issue.

WR: Who cares what our 2, 3, and 4 men are. They just don't get the ball often in this offense.
    Pickens is great,

TE: 'Muth remains a balh player and Washington is a good blocking TE but as a pass catcher lacks the savvy big time.

RB: Harris can run hard and take care of the football, but his lack of explosion means he is not breaking any runs. Warren is still nursing an injury, but should be back to 100% soon. Patterson is more than an adequate 3.

OL: This unit played fairly well. Tomlin started the wrong man at LG. Our Tackles held up. Fazier played well overall in his first game. We have something here.

K: Boswell has a great leg and nailed 3 50+ yard field goals. Right now , he is our MVP.

DL: An uneven performance. I expected more out of Benton. No sacks, TFL, or passes batted down for the unit. Leal did not make a play.

LB: Watt is a beast. Queen disappointed, but Wilson did not and made some nice plays. It would be long until he doesn't leave the field. Highsmith was in the mix, but really should be more of a factor due to the attention Watt gets. One player was a no-show.

DB: We have a unit. Finally! Fitz was all over the field. Porter was solid. Both Elliot and Jacskon had an interception. Our rookie slot man, Benton was fine. This unit is going to be a top 5 NFL leader in interceptions.

P: Due to a late hit, our Punter Johnson who has ability is done for the year. We will pick a guy up.

Coaching: An early time out in the first quarter? Boswell bailed us out. Smith called an average game. We could have used counter plays or reverse more than we did. RPO? Tomlin was Tomlin. Same old nothing from him. No play charts.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Tomlin is heavily involved in the defensive side and they played a hell of a game.

You can’t bash Tomlin when the D fails and then call the DB top 5 while crapping on Tomlin.

    and no more reverses please.

Your kicker making kicks is not a bailout, that's why he is on the team.

Even Boz probably doesn't make all those kicks if we force him to do it outside in the cold.

The O was good enough to win yesterday (with 3 TOs from the D).

But we know what that level of offense gets us. A playoff birth and a non-competitive game.

The D is going to be the better side of the ball this season.

But the O has to start being able to score 20 points.

I think a lot of us are hoping for an NFL average number of points this year. And 18 in the first game isn't a great start. Particularly with the defensive performance we got.

I think we've all been Steelers fans long enough to know that we don't blow teams out. But I wish I am hoping that by mid-season I no longer have the opinion that giving up 18 - 20 points means that we lose.

We had a frw turnovers and timely sacks/pressures.

Patrick Queen twce got both his hands on Bijans middle section & tried to throw him down & Bijan just ran through the tackle. Hope that improves. Queen had some bad plays but he was around the ball a lot his speed was evident.

              Sure.

I think this intentionally minimized the contributions of the D.

"A few" turnovers (i.e. 3) is a lot of turnovers.

Probably more reasonable to say something like "The defense was good enough to win despite the offense failing to find the end zone."

Where are a similar statement about the O would be "The offense was good enough to win with the benefit of 3 turnovers from a defense that gave up 26 total yards in the 2nd half (and only 8 in the 3rd quarter!)."

Just like most wins with Kenny and Mitch, this is the D winning and the O being there.
