I'm thinking that the FO wants to improve the pass D by speeding up the rush.

Other than that, I don't get it.

Well who do we have at OLB if Harrison or Woodley gets injured? Keyaron or Andre Frazier? Worilds will be Harrison's replacement and depth in the meantime.

I don't mind the pick, even though I know nothing about him. They got Woodley in the second...like I said in another thread, the CB's available at this point aren't proabably much better than what we already have. AOA in the 3rd?

We're going to get a bad grade from the draft gurus. But the more i hear, the more i like.

i dont like the pick at all. we could of gotten him later. i would of hoped they would of drafted a cb in the first two rounds. i hope we can get either ghee or franks, i would be content with that

I don't hate the position. I made the same point about nobody behind Harrison and Woodley (only choice is to move Timmons outside), and even suggested trading up in the second to get Jerry Hughes (until Indy took him in the first).

I just think the player was a reach. Then again, the team knows more about this than I do, for sure. I hope they are right.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Me too. The two books I get (Kiper and PFW's) both talk about his mysterious drop-off in production. Seems to me that if they actually watch, and this guy was always in the QB's face, they'd have said that.

I also can appreciate the pick. I like un-obvious picks... not the ones where a guy is "falling": e.g. Limas Sweed, Claussen this year. Those guys seem to fall for a reason.

Mayber we're trying to get someone on ST who can tackle? It's basically the reason we didn't play in the post season last year.

I like the pick. I believe the decline in effectiveness in our defense in the 4th quarter (5 blown leads) in the 4th quarter stems at least in part from the fact that we have absolutely NOBODY to spell Harrison and Woodley. In the past, we haven't needed thatas much because our power run offense tended to possess the ball and effectively shorten games. Now that we're chucking it around ourselves, our D is on the field more... by the 4th quarter, when the game shifts to fling it every down catch up mode, our pass rushers are gassed. Since our D depends on pressure to break up the timing of opposing passing games, our secondary gets exposed.

Add to that the fact that we drafted a pair of corners last year, one of whom (3rd rounder Keenan Lewis) was dinged up and relatively ineffective from camp on, and the fact that there was really no particular value sitting on the board at the position at 52, and we end up with Jason Worilds because he IS the best option for helping the 4th quarter pass D available at 2:52.

Maybe they're going to re-arrange all the linebackers so the Timmons pick at number one now , looks good ? Maybe this guy will only sit the bench for four years before we find out he is average ?
