Doing Ben and the League a favor?

Here is another perspective. The severity (IMO way too extreme) of the penalty was an attempt by the Goodell and the Rooney's to save Ben. The length is a shock and maybe they are trying to wake Ben up and save him from himself. Goodell did not make this decision without consulting the Rooney's. The Rooney's have always been known to take care of their players. Maybe they are trying to "save" Ben.

This is going to send a chill through the rest of the NFL. For a player like Ben to get hammered like this every player in the NFL had better know that they don't stand a chance if they go before the commish.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

This is a good point. Put the fear of God into the entire league.
