Rated worst in terms of bad blocks in passing situations. Still described as an above-average run blocker.

Haha... all you guys saying he gets what he deserved, he has to lie in the bed he made... he didn't commit no crime. I would LOVE to live with the repurcussions of having signed a $20 million dollar contract.

I wonder how he sleeps at night.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Agreed... football is a business and he made a business decision. A lot of Steeler fans perceived him as a malcontent because of all the whining he did prior to his departure. I'm sure he'll be picked up by some other team, while he secures his family's financial future. An NFL player's shelf life of productivity is considered good if he lasts more than 10 years (though OL work seems to have more longevity). I'm sure Alan sleeps quite well at night.

In 2002, when he was in his prime, we signed him to a six-year extension worth $25.55 million, which at that time, was the highest contract ever paid to a guard in NFL history. He got ticked off near the end of that contract when he saw lesser players suddenly making way more than that (which is inevitable...contract numbers increase in 5 years). We simply weren't willing to make him the highest paid guard in league history again when his game was in decline like we were when he was in his prime. It was a smart business decision on our end, and a smart business decision on his end as well. Not so much for the Jets, though.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Nothing wrong with taking your money and leaving. Just keep your mouth shut, do your job and don't be subversive. Faneca failed on all three counts.
