... they usually dont spend or draft high at the FS position. look at the guys they've brought in. relatively low level signings (alexander, clark) and hope.

the type of player they seem to want in that position (with troy roaming around) is a 'safe' one.

OTOH, if they think of him as a CB... then never mind the above

if Earl Thomas is still available at #18, he will be a Steeler and be given every opportunity to beat out Willie Gay at the CB position opposite Ike Taylor.

and in the worst case scenario he would at least be the nickel and dime back.. and even in teh scenario I don't see Gay as the starter....

It's like you are reading my mind lately. If Thomas is there he is the clear pick.

If Brandon Graham and Earl Thomas are available when we pick what would it take to move to 1.19 and get both? Do we have a player we could package with a pick or cash to move into that spot rather than give up the rest of the draft.?

Can't realistically happen. If we get one of the two then it is a great pick. Both are a "win" pick. Personally, I'd take Graham.

Except God doesn't draft for the Steelers. If that were the case, we wouldn't have drafted Ricardo Colclough, Alonzo Jackson, Troy Edwards, Scott Shields, Jamain Stephens, etc.

From your keyboard to Colbert's ears (and actually, I suppose it should be from your keyboard to Colbert's eyes. If it were only his ears that were paying attention to what you were typing, it would just sound like a bunch of indistinguishable clicking noises).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                  ON THE CLOCK:
                  PITTSBURGH
What will the Steelers do with Pick #18?
                  Earl Thomas, S, Texas

In the above scenario...I listen to no offers and...
"With the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...The Pittsburgh Steelers select...Earl Thomas, DB Texas."
He was my choice after Spoon but I believe he will be gone.

Assume Thomas is gone in place of Willaims, Pierre-Paul, Davis, or Bryant.
"With the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...The Pittsburgh Steelers select...Mike Iupati, OL Idaho."

Assume Thomas & Iupati are gone in place of Willaims, Pierre-Paul, Davis, or Bryant. I would try to trade back and target Pouncey. If I can't trade back...
"With the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...The Pittsburgh Steelers select...Brandon Graham, OLB Michigan."

Assume the Steelers did trade back. The original 17 picks and my three are off the board. I would pick in this order:
