According to Tim Benz, he looked like he did because he wasn't expecting to do a PC. They figured his lawyer would be speaking, but because of the way the DA's PC turned out, they had Ben do the PC. He was at the facility working out already and had to wear what he worn to the training facility.

The FO should NEVER have let him appear like that. Our Public Affairs people were asleep at the wheel. The first thing you check for a big PC like that is appearance and obviously nobody did. What happened between 7 pm and 2 pm the next day? Probably a lot of butt chewing (along with a haircut).

Would have cancelled the PC rather than have him appear like that.

Maybe it was intentional by the F.O. though - "Ben, have a taste of what it's like on your own, which is where you'll be if you keep getting in trouble...".

Step 3... get into shape. Ben has the body potential of being a porker.
Did you see the video of him throwing? He looks to be in fine shape. He was never a sculpted guy to begin with.

He has a large face that's a bit misshapen due to the surgery needed as a result of the accident. People see his large face and assume that he's out of shape. He's not.

Whoever rushed Ben out there should be fired... his wardrobe malfunctioned.

Regardless of accusations he needed a haircut. That thing was awful..

Ben's face has gotten bigger and plumper since last season...along with the rest of his big body. It's not just me...several people have remarked about it--when he made that statement, he looked somewhat bloated all over.

I agree that his throwing arm looks fine, and that he was never a sculpted guy to begin with. And I'm not worried about him not being in physical shape by the start of the season. But before then, he's got a few pounds to shed.

Disagree. Think it was great that Ben was out there on his own with no support in place. Hopefully it embarassed him like he embarassed the team. Sent a message. Hopefully now he looks at that and sees what a buffoon he comes off as.

Leb, the statements you made above screams experience in that particular arena. This is what made me scratch my head with earlier threads regarding his appearance. Many stated they found his appearance a non-issue. If it were a non-issue, why even make a public statement? His appearance directly correlates to wanting to put this thing to bed and present a perception that he is nothing like the allegations make him to be.... and a clean cut, professional representation of our franchise QB would go a long way in starting to mend his obviously tarnished image. His prep was poor, because no where in his statement did he ever apologize to the fans.... to some maybe this is no big deal, but in a small market fan support is huge and since he currently isn't winning games during this very sad off-season, the avenues of re-establishing his fandom credibility are few and far between.
