At 221 lbs. he is definitely not 3-4 OLB size, but what do you see in him for our defense? I guess I should go check your mock draft....

Run defense: Takes good angles to the ball and is a reliable tackler in the open. Stands his ground very well against tackles on either side of the line considering he is undersized. Explodes into double teams. Able to punch and disengage to chase down run plays run to his side, but will be engulfed regularly by NFL offensive tackles. Beats cut blocks with his hands, recovers quickly to chase down the ball.

      from the gbn report -

The workout at Virginia Tech is finished and junior defender Jason Worilds impressed the scouts on hand. He improved his 40 time from the combine, running twice in the low 4.5-second area. His short shuttle time of 4.08 seconds was terrific. Worilds, who measured just over 6-foot-1 and 254 pounds at the combine, was put through defensive line drills by the Carolina Panthers and linebacker drills by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Today's performance could help him sneak into the final stages of round two.
Yea, but would be ever rotate Worilds with Harrison and Woodley? I think we need to wait until at least Rd. 5 for a backup OLB prospect.

the Steelers seem to be looking at 3-4 OLB prospects that would have to be drafted higher than Round 5. Harrison can't play forever, gotta start grooming his replacement soon because we all know how complicated our defensive scheme is.

unless that player is already on our roster in Lawrence Timmons.

Schofield is a great pass rusher. Not good- great. He can stand to add 10 lbs or so, and still be a great pass rusher. The comment you posted contradicts itself- "Stands his ground very well against Tackles" & "will be engulfed regularly by NFL offensive tackles" is like saying he's a great pass rusher, but pass rushing is his liability- contradiction. Chadman KNOWS someone will say 'but he was against college OT's, not NFL OT's- but where do these NFL OT's come from? Oh- that's right, college. And the benefit of grabbing an OLB this year is this- that rookie won't need to play for a few years yet- enough time to develop the body & technique.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

        Light up the darkness.

Rodger Saffold from Indiana is expected to be a 2nd round draft choice this year and he only gave up one sack all year long...to O'Brien Schofield.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Maryland kids always tear it up. Vernon Davis, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Bruce Campbell. All freaks of nature at the combine. Their strength and conditioning coach should get more accolades than their head coach.

William & Mary’s pro day on March 17

Representatives from 22 teams were in attendance for William & Mary’s pro day on March 17. The biggest name in the group? San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary.

The Hall of Famer likely had his eyes on DE Adrian Tracy (6-3, 247), who went through defensive line drills, as well as inside and outside linebacker drills. Tracy stood on his numbers from the combine.

                              Other players with good numbers:

                              QB, R.J. Archer (6-2, 219) ran the 40 in 4.80 4.84, had a 34-inch vertical jump, 9-4 broad jump, 4.27 short shuttle and1 7.10 three-cone drill.
