Wait… if a QB doesn’t win a SB in 2 years you move on from him?

How often is THAT done in football?

Does this apply to Herbert, Lawrence, Fields and Tua as well?

Once again the “SB or bust” mindset by some fans is totally delusional.

and you are wrong about Manning being the only one. John Elway played for like 15 years before he won a SB

i think he would be crazy to play under the franchise tag.
it is a lot of money. But compare it to 150-200 M guaranteed he would be getting with a long term deal.

This is where not having an agent hurts him. He would have advised him to force the ravens hand or likely sit out

As long as he doesn’t get hurt, Lamar is going to make himself a lot more money long term.

It’s a big gamble for sure but if he doesn’t sign the franchise tag, he could be looking at upping his yearly salaries to $55-$60m next year and swing a bigger contract in a trade. If he does sign the franchise tender, he’d be looking at a 20% bump going into the next season which is another $10m / year.

I kinda dig the confidence of a guy that’s willing to go all in and bet on himself. I’d like it if one of our guys did this too cause it would tell me he’s likely going to give everything to win.

This kinda move is worth rooting for the player imho. At least when he’s not playing us or when his teams wins have any impact on us making the playoffs.

And the bigger the contract long term, the more it will hurt the Ravens which is another bonus from our perspective.

its crazy because we rarely see QB’s take this risk but it has been done before. Didn’t Dak do it, get hurt and still get paid?

Lamar said something that was interesting.. “its risky playing football every year”

Always wild to watch players make aggressive moves and turn down generations money but I believe he is making $23 mill this year.

Ravens don't want to give him a fully guaranteed contract like Watson. Why should you for a QB that can't pass and exposes himself to more injury by running then any other QB in the league? Unfortunately, they are smart and see the big picture. Gloat gloat gloat.

There's no way the Ravens give him that kind of guaranteed salary. Lamar should be using Kyler's contract as a foundation, not Watson's.

And if he gets hurt this year, what is the perspective of a long term contract with the Ravens? Or with any team then? I"m not giving a monster contact to a guy who can't pass and exposes himself to injury more than any other QB in the league.

if its baseball, or a similar non collision sport, i would agree with you.

this isn't the sport to be risky with an injury/contract

i believe this is where not having an agent is hurting him. I would think an agent advises him the watson contract is a 1 off.
lets get a deal done in the neighberhood (or above) the contracts murray or wilson just signed

Who saying a you have to win a supper bowl in 2 years. I hope the Raven keep Jackson and his 1-3 playoff road for at least another 5 years. They aren't winning a super bowl.

Elway has Dan Revees at coach and he disagreed with his philosophy. One he was removed Elway won Super Bowls.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

I agree with this. Giving Watson that deal, which cost them a lot of future draft picks and a ton on money reminds us of how stupid the Brown are. It's their worst move since Browns who took a tight end with their 1st round pick instead of the home town boy QB Ben Roethlisberger.

Give Lamar the most money! He's so not worth anything close to what he's asking for, but I'm still rooting for him because is will sink the Ravens for years.
