Bengals Rivers Remains on PUP List, Waive Former Steelers LB Davis

In a not-so-surprising move, the Bengals elected to keep LB Keith Rivers on their Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, stemming from wrist surgery he had in July.

It seems likely Rivers will miss the rest of the season, but the team has not made that move yet.

Rivers, perhaps more famously known as the recipient of a Hines Ward hit that ended his rookie season in 2008, had played at a high level in 2009 and was even better in 2010. Still, the Bengals defense has played remarkably well all season, and their core of linebackers are part of a dominant front seven on the defensive side of the ball.

The Bengals will travel to Pittsburgh for a divisional game both teams need to stay competitive in an aggressive AFC playoff race. The Steelers defeated Cincinnati 24-17 in Week 10.

In other transactions, the Bengals signed DT Cornell Banks to their practice squad. He replaced former Steelers third round draft pick Bruce Davis, who had been signed by the team Nov. 23.

Davis barely lasted a season with the Steelers after being taken in the third round of the 2008 draft. He has spent time on the practice squads of New England, Denver, San Francisco and Oakland before ending up with the Bengals.
