Dude probably comes off the board in the top 15 picks overall if he doesn't tear his Achilles at his Pro Day. I see similarities to fellow Washington Husky CB Marcus Peters (2015 defensive rookie of the year) but without the baggage. Since he will now have to spend 2017 rehabbing the injury and likely won't see the field until 2018 (despite his proclamations otherwise), I think he drops down to the 3rd round, since teams tend to want their first two picks to be immediate contributors if at all possible (Dallas taking Jaylon Smith in early round 2 last season not withstanding). So, yeah...that's how I arrived at a credible enough CB to start in 2018 and beyond in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus. -

What do you think we do THIS YEAR opposite Burns? Ross would be a great get for year 2018 and beyond but I'm worried about right now because Ben's window is right now.Comment
-
Ross is the UW WR who broke the 40 record at the Combine...Jones is the UW CB who tore his Achilles at his Pro Day. Cockrell will start opposite Burns, plus we have Sensabaugh competing with Gay and Golson for slot corner. Even if we were able to get Sidney Jones for 2018 with one of our 2017 3rd round picks, we likely still would add to our 2017 CB completion by taking another CB with our picks in the first 4 rounds. It's a deep corner draft, so we might as well take advantage of that while we can.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Hmmm. I'm not feeling as confident as you about taking cornerbacks late in the rounds. Colbert's track record is real bad when it comes to cornerbacks who pan out in those late rounds.Comment
-
What is the track record on guys recovering from Achilles injuries? I'm trying to think of a corner or WR who has had one and come back. Is it typically a full recovery? I'm sure there are some, I can't can't think of any.Comment

Ruth, I don't think 3 will go that early but I now beleive three will go in the first 13 picks.
I think Arizona is going to take a QB. Carson Palmer is running on fumes and they are going to need a new starter next year IMO. And depending on what happens in Washington and Houston, there very well could be 4 QB's that go in round one which is great for us. Pushing a great linebacker or cornerback down to us.Comment

Hey Roth, and forum.... I see you have NO taking a qb, which is realistic. Do you think any team such as the Jets, SF, Browns are willing to leap frog the Saints to get their Qb? Would you pull the trigger in that trade? What do you think they would have to give up, their 2nd and 3rd or 4th?

we are in red alert need in our Linebacker corps so I wouldn't be surprised. I really wish we had two second round picks; but I should be thankful about our two third rounders. I really just want to adequately address the linebackers and add a quality cornerback.Last edited by Real Deal Steel; 03-29-2017, 06:51 PM.Comment
