I don't know about that. I think he has had a lot of bad play on his resume. On the flip side, I think he is playing very well now. Not all-pro, but solid enough that I feel comfortable knowing he's there and is the least of the team's concerns right now.

exactly. Maybe not since early last year. And only bc folks felt like they had to blame someone.

He's having his best year by far but still not what you would hope to get from a #1 pick like Jones, who looks like he doesn't like football. There's a reason they spent two consecutive #1 picks on OT, but he hasn't done anything to lose his job this year and he's the best healthy tackle on the team.

          This.

Jones has been struggling. But I think it's better to try to level him up on the field.

I don't think teams will be trading starting caliber tackles. But who knows...

Cam Heyward wasn't a fulltime starter for like his first three years in the league. Jones was thrown in his rookie year. Both were 1st round picks.

Give Jones some time to work through the struggles...he'll be fine. Everyone knew he was raw coming in, but now everyone wants to forget that

The team philosophy has changed a lot since Cam was a rookie.

Cam was drafted in the 1st year of the rookie wage cap world. I don't think teams (especially traditional teams like the Steelers) understood the massive value of those rookie deals at the time.

                expound on this please?

Given Cam’s career I think they knew his value.

I think Cam was pretty much the last of the rookie 1st round picks where we didn't want them to be rushed onto the field.

I think the math doesn't work with the cap anymore to sit high pedigree rookies. They are now so much cheaper / give more value that you have to get them on the field.

And in his rookie year we also had Smith Hampton and Keisel IIRC.

I think we draft more toward future need than we used to. Again because of the economics of the cap.

It's a known fact that LeBeau did not like to start rookie players.

                      Broderick Jones' a problem

Steel Maniac's Time-Based Prediction: Lamar Jackson will be a bust and total flop in the NFL.

What Actually Happened: Lamar Jackson became the youngest two-time NFL MVP winner ever.

"....could you light a fire under Jones?...." LOL. I doubt very much the guy would react to a fire under him.

Jones is a mess, and sadly getting worse as the season goes along. Fautanu has the position locked up when he returns next season.

Not Jones related, but I thought the comment on trading for Adams now that the Jets are basically out interesting. Especially if they lose to HOU tonight.

I also like the idea he had of trying to trade the Giants for Slayton (WR) and Evan Neal (RT) who they seem to have given up on.

I found the Neal idea interesting only because I have not seen or heard his name since he was such a highly touted prospect. Wonder why he is where he is and if he's worth a flyer.

I just wonder down the road if they consider moving Washington to tackle.

The Depot asked about him when they interviewed the Giants' beat writer last week.

Sounds like they've pretty much given up on him.

If we could get him for a low to very-low pick, I think that's a good idea for a low-risk attempt at a reclamation project.
