If his level of commitment is an issue then that has to be addressed internally, but we should have known that Jones may require more patience than others in similar draft positions.
My opinion, big mistake by the org to select a developmental player in RD1. First rounders should be near can't miss with college resumes to match.
but in their desperation for OL I can see why they reached.

agree completely, especially when you trade up for that player.

            hostage situation developing

maybe we can get a 4th round pick for him
maybe with the right coaching, the light will turn on for him somewhere else

I'd call him more of a gamble than a reach. Low floor with his lack of experience but high ceiling due to his athleticism, size, and room to grow. Funny how lack of experience is either a positive or negative depending on results.

It is far from ideal to gamble with such a high pick, but based on options at OL, it was probably the best option, especially when you consider the guy who would have been the second choice was probably the guy taken in the second.

Using that metric, you might have passed on Big Ben and TJ...

                  Yep.

When you need a QB, you have to try.

Sometimes you get super lucky and the Browns take a TE so you can get a HoF QB.

Other times, you need a QB and it's the worst QB class in memory.

But you know- there are some on here who prefer to go by PFF and cannot admit that Moore is just a better LT at this point.

To Jones defense, that last holding call was ticky tacky.
Moore has NEVER been as bad as some try to make him out to be. The guy isn't All Pro, but he is solid and always available. Can't have five 1st Round picks on your OL.

Jones right now is in his own head. He needs to step back and regroup. He played to well last year to have forgotten how to do his job. That said, the coaches can only do so much. He isn't a robot being programmed. He has to fix himself.

A 4th Round pick...like where we picked Dan Moore?

Jones will be fine. He is young and needs to get his head straight.

Are people still convinced that putting Broderick Jones on the QB's blind side will be the answer to any O line problems?

Best thing we can do with that guy is sit his ar$$e on the bench for awhile

I'm hoping when Dylan Cook comes back, he can improve play at RT

Cook is about as big an unknown as any player who could start on this team. He is coming off of injury and has never played in an NFL game. With all the talk about finding a receiver on the trade market, maybe we should be shifting focus to an established tackle.
