    Payton Wilson

He has already picked a ball off in camp and forced a fumble. Camp this is day #5 in camp, first day the pads come on. They call him a rookie but that is really a misnomer.
The guy is razor sharp, has football instincts you can teach ( a high football IQ ), and rare physical coverage skills for a player 6'4"! We might be able to cover tight ends, and get intercetions from our short to medium middle defense. Finally a long time Steeler weakness apperas to have been addressed.

I think the Steelers drafted a special player based on early returns and the right veterans talking about him.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

    He's a freak. This sounds Lambert-esque almost.

Gotta give credit when due. From the moment I watched his film when you said his name I was high on him. We may have found a gem.

Two Wilsons down, can we wrap Patrick in bubble-wrap?

Sure. But wouldn't it make sense to wrap Payton?

Good one. Wrong name, maybe mixed him up with Patrick Queen. Both will be great for the Steelers.

Gonna have to beat out Elandon.

I love the kid’s potential, but Roberts is a thumper this D needs to set the tone.

I agree 100%. When a coach wants to get his best guys on the field sometimes they change formations to do that. Few years back we started using Big Nickel because of our personnel. Perhaps we'll blend in some 2-5 front seven formations and keep Roberts , Queen and Wilson on the field at the same time.
Queen n Wilson really give us a tactical advantage because of their versatility.

I don't think he needs to beat out Roberts, but he does need to contribute this year and be a part of a regular rotation at ILB. Roberts and Wilson have very different skill sets. Roberts is like Vince Williams and Wilson is more like Shazier.

Next year is when he should challenge for the starting role next to Queen, but neither is that traditional "thumper"
