Mahomes wins a Super Bowl with mid to poor weapons at WR and RB. Have to think they'll try to fix that in the offseason, especially with a WR-rich draft.

Nice to see that defense still matters.

Just goes to show you that a game manager QB and strong defense is not enough to beat an elite QB with modest offensive weapons (Kelce excluded). It's also clear that the Steelers need to continue the search for their next franchise QB because the ones in that room aren't close to SB quality.

At least SF didn’t get their 6th. But KC has grown tiresome to me. I actually won $1000 on that final score and was still mad about the result……

I don’t disagree, but the chess game and creativity displayed by both teams on offense is something we haven’t seen in years. Here’s hoping Arthur fixes that glaring weakness.

Last sb thought (maybe). I’m curious what others think about playoff overtime strategy. With the way the nfl favors offense, having 4 downs to get a needed fg seems too easy. I thought SF should have kicked off and hoped for a clean stop on KC. but no matter what KC did, they would have known what was needed to win on their possession.

I thought it was a huge mistake to receive and then not score 6. KC easily got in FG range and was then able to take some shots.

I love when teams win a close SB and folks say its an example of why the losing team’s roster build is the reason why they lost.

                Game went into overtime folks.

If it was a blowout I would understand the argument.

Another takeaway -- the Chiefs turned the ball over twice and won. They did the same in 2019, the Rams did the same a couple years ago. Avoiding TOs at all costs can prevent losses, but don't have to be a killer. They overcame with great QB play, their D not folding up like a lawn chair after the TOs, and their D actually forcing their own.

Gotta build your team around a guy that can block XPs. If it wasn?t for that block, that game never went to OT and KC had no chance.

This was basically the game right here. Shanahan was definitely out coached in this game.

A couple of other thoughts -

                        - Chiefs honestly remind me a lot now of the Pats SB teams, they have a defense that might bend but definitely does not break, great CB play along with a QB who is clutch with a lot of dink and dunk. They just hang around and then win.

                        - Having said the above and I know Mahommes had a great game, I can't really remember too many actual great plays from him or that offense lol. He had that bomb and the two runs in OT but man the NFL kinda sucks now. The winning TD pass was so anti-climatic, guy was wide open and it looked like the Niners D had given up by then. Once Chiefs got to about the 30 you could tell the game was over which goes to the above about needing a TD on that opening drive in OT.

                        - If the Niners had a better QB they likely score more points and likely win the game. I mentioned it earlier in the year that I wasn't sold on Purdy and after watching him in the playoffs and SB I'm definitely still not. He finished with decent numbers but idk he really struggled a good bit of the game, there was a stretch where it seemed like the Niners couldn't even get a 1st down.

Ha! We've done that a few times too.

But of course, if they hadn't blocked the XP, then they would have played differently and may have won in regulation. Teams will do things differently, the more desperate they are. Just like having the 2nd possession in OT... you now start playing all 4 downs, because you have to.

Do you think the Chiefs played loose and took chances? I felt like it was a pretty conservative game plan by both offenses.

to 3 at the half. 19 points each heading into OT.

Purdy is a decent QB and gave his team a chance to win. Blocked XP and couldn't get a stop on defense.

Just felt like this was a good defensive matchup and low scoring affair.

                                QB + defense wins.

And while PM is the best player in the nfl, they win this game because of their D imo.

Both teams under 20 in regulation.

Forcing good offenses to kick fgs.

                                And getting turnovers.

                                And a blocked xp.

Felt like when we were good with Ben. Very good QB, and very good D.

I wish we had even an average QB...
