While we all love public flogging, it's worth noting that it was also reported that both had some internal consequences (standing up in front of the team to apologize and "heavy fines" levied by the team for at least Pickens).

More importantly, the behavior was corrected and the team went on a win streak at the end of the season.

Did Pickens pout and complain when he didn't have a reception against the Rats?

It didn’t happen again which tells me they were more than likely corrected for their actions.

I do remember DJ saying he addressed the team and apologized for his actions. The thirst for blood was a bit over the top on here.

“Trade him, cut him, bench hi… oooh wait, 80 yard TD, go Pickens and DJ, go!!!
It was also reported that at least Pickens was fined by the team. I'd imagine DJ too.

I didn’t know about the fine but I think fans want players embarrassed publicly because they embarrassed the team publicly.

and the supposed one time a player was disciplined and fans found out about it they were upset at Tomlin.

Chuks made a snide comment and lost his job for good. DJ and GP didn't miss a snap.

Funny how BOTH RESPONSES lead to MASSIVE improvements in the problem and you completely miss that fact.

If we benched Pickens sure HE DOES NOT break out with the BEST GAMES OF HIS CAREER.

But at least angry fans get their pound of flesh.

And maybe we lose more game putting Tomlins job in jeopardy.

I am sorry to inform you but Tomlin does not share your agenda to get himself fired.

His method of behind the scenes discipline did what was best. Pickens never looked better and stopped pouting. Benching Chuks who WILL BE BOUNCED to help out cap, DIRECTLY LED to our run game improvement.

            Whats not to love?
Oh right, Tomlin did not do the career suicide move you wanted.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

he also sucked as a run blocker and we saw a massive improvement once he was replaced.

best believe if we have a first round talent at WR that we moved up to draft at 14 DJ would’ve been benched too. Especially if we planned on moving him in the offseason.

It was the addition of Jones that helped the run game. If he had replaced Moore we would have seen the same improvement.

We will never know if we would’ve seen the same improvements if Jones replaced Moore.

But we do know that we saw a significant improvement once Chuks was benched.

Steelers owner Art Rooney II explains why he still believes Mike Tomlin is the right guy

Not only are the Pittsburgh Steelers not firing head coach Mike Tomlin, they intend to get him under contract even longer, so said team owner Art Rooney II. He said that during his first round of media interviews in the wake of the 2023 season. Recently sitting down with KDKA’s Bob Pompeani, he explained why […]

We'll never know if the Golden Girl ratings would have gone up had Raquel Welch replaced Betty White, but we do know it went up significantly when Bea Arthur was canned.

I think this is mostly right.

Two guys way ahead, then a bunch of guys with the dregs.

I don't generally buy the McVay hype, but I would have had him higher in this vote. I think going into the season, most would have thought the Rams would be brutal since they have a terrible salary cap situation.

But I'm also pretty convinced that most football writers don't really know much about the cap. Because their competitive edge is access.

Tastemakers really liked CLE this year.

Not sure how Ryan didn’t win this award.

I thought Ryans definitely should've won it, I'm not convinced Stefanski is a good coach yet. I get Browns had QB injuries but Flacco was just out there wing dinging it lol, sort of saved Browns season as crazy as that is. Browns D being worst on the road but best at home is also a head scratcher. Ryans was way more impressive imo.
