Why scheme and play design matters

This is fantastic. Canada's wasted motion vs. Faulkner's purposeful motion.

It's not all just about "lining up and beating your man".

JT O'Sullivan was saying the same thing in his latest video. And I remember on one of the previous videos, he called out motion that was useless.

I hate to say this but was Canada just dumb and too stubborn to listen to the advice of others on the staff?

Would be nice if we had a good offensive-minded coordinator already on staff.

We have options to hire one of the assistant OC's from the Rams, Vikings, Dolphins etc.etc. Any of the other ball clubs that we feel has a qualified offense and a qualified guy who can bring us a modern day offense.

The best thing about moving on from Canada is no film on Faulkner and Sullivans tendencies.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

            TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

The whole point of scheme is to confuse the defense. Using motion that actually gives players an advantage in getting off the line clean or preventing secondaries from doubling George Pickens is exactly what an OC is supposed to be doing to give his players an edge within the framework of the offense. Canada simply never achieved that level of detail in his offense. He simply didn't have the depth of knowledge to understand everything that was possible within an offense.

It doesn't make him a bad man. It makes him a bad OC.
